Ken Kratz, the man who prosecuted Steven Avery, has been plagued by death threats since the 10-part “Making a Murderer” series was released on Netflix. Not only is Kratz’s life in danger, the attorney might be in jeopardy of losing his law practice.
Once the Calumet County District attorney, Kratz is now in private practice. The attorney recently spoke exclusively with Radar Online and revealed he and his family have been the recipients of death threats. Ken has been attacked on Twitter by those who believe Avery was wrongfully convicted for the murder of Teresa Halbach.
In addition to Twitter attacks, Ken reveals that “nuisance calls” tie up his business phone lines. Kratz feels that this is “public shaming, a new blood sport” and that the anonymous callers and social media attackers feel the need to exact some kind of justice. In addition to annoyance phone calls, Ken receives suspicious packages at the Kratz Law Firm. One of the packages exploded, but thankfully no one was injured.
It’s not just Ken who is on the receiving end of the hateful attacks. Family members are now being harassed by those who believe Kratz railroaded Avery. The lawyer revealed that there are those that have said they hope a violent sexual crime is committed against his daughter right in front of Kratz.
Facebook trolls have targeted Ken’s daughter-in-law, too. The messages are unsettling, people writing that “your father-in-law is a piece of s***.”
The public harassment of Ken Kratz over the Steven Avery case isn’t limited to social media and phone calls. Hundreds of people have taken to Yelp to harass Kratz.
Dozens of Yelp reviewers have called out Ken for his 2010 sexting scandal. As previously reported, the former Calumet County District Attorney resigned his position following the misconduct and sought help for an addiction to prescription medications.
Whether or not Steven Avery was falsely imprisoned for the murder of Teresa Halbach, Ken Kratz and his family do not deserve to be harassed nor have their lives threatened via social media. Let us know what you think in the comments section below and come back to CDL for the latest celebrity news.
