#Supernatural starts with Lucifer’s voice in Sam’s head tormenting him about how he has to be willing to let the people he loves die to beat the darkness. Dean finds him cleaning his gun and asks why he hasn’t left the bunker in days. Sam insists he’s find.

Dean says he has a case – a retiree killed with his head bashed in but the doors locked. He says it’s only 15 minutes away. Sam worries about Cass and the darkness. Dean says Cass is always fine and they have no leads on Amara anyway.

We see Cass/Lucifer at a park feeding the ducks. A guy comes and sits on a nearby bench and looks at him. Lucifer walks past him whistling into the woods and the guy follows. Lucifer pulls out the angel blade.

Lucifer turns to him and the guy says he couldn’t believe his eyes that he had to go to the park where an angel was lurking. The angel knows he’s Lucifer and comes at him. He tells him he’s his only hope at beating the darkness and says he heard he and the other kids messed up.

Lucifer says don’t be afraid, I’m out of the cage and out to save you all. He says he’s Lucifer Ex Machina. The angel comes at him and he snaps his finger and the guy explodes into a blood spray. He says rank and file angels have no vision.

Dean and Sam go to the old folks home for a look see. The place is really swanky. The manager says he heard Harold saying – get out of my head. He says the door was locked and he used his key to get in. He says no one was in his room according to security logs.

Mildred, a resident, comes by and says hi. The manager says his wife dumped him via text using emojis. He says he sent the poop emoji back. Dean asks if he’s noticed strange sounds or smells or cold spots. He asks if Harold has enemies.

Sam checks out the room and says Harold was stealing the other residents’ Viagra. Dean calls it a dick move. Dean says the manager Arthur gave him the resident’s files. He says Jake had beef with Harold because he was stealing his pension checks.

They wonder if Jake is a vengeful spirit. They go dig him up. They talk while they dig and Sam admits he’s not okay. He says being so close to Lucifer brought up some issues he thought he had forgotten. He tells Dean he doesn’t want to talk about it.

Dean says Lucifer is stuck in the cage so it’s case closed. They find the coffin and burn the bones. Sam says he just wants to go home. They light it up. Back at the retirement home, Arthur sees Mildred in the lobby and he hears a scream then the lights flicker.

She can’t hear the screaming that he does. The lights go out and we see a vengeful looking spirit coming down the hall. Mildred doesn’t see that either. He says – get it out of my head. He screams and scares her. He bashes his head against a glass window until he falls out.

The spirit pursues him and we see it attacking him. Dee sees the spirt then and screams in terror. Mildred tells Sam and Dean about the incident and says she didn’t hear what he did. She says he wanted the noise to stop. She says the power went out.

She says she saw something and says they won’t believe her. She says she saw a ghost 10 years ago and no one believed her then. Dean says he does. Sam notices a maid nearby then asks what she saw. She says a woman with sunken eyes was feeding on his head.

Sam steps away and talks to the maid. She’s deaf and says she wasn’t working last night. He asks about Harold and she says she wasn’t working that night either. Sam says she’s not a witness and this is not a ghost. Sam says they’ll check with the coroner.

The maid reads their lips about feeding time and Dean mentioning zombies. Sam says the coroner mentioned a lobe of the brain is missing. Dean says he thinks it’s malevolent banshees that are totally dick bags. He says only the victim hears them.

He says they only prey on the vulnerable. Dean says they hunt at night and pick a place clean before they move on. Dean says they need a gold blade and he’ll go get it while Sam pokes around. The deaf maid watches Dean drive away.

At the bunker, Dean hears a noise and pulls his gun. He sees Cass/Lucifer and asks what the hell he’s doing. He says he’s looking for a spell to draw Amara out. He says he had her in his sights and she was hurt and he should have ended it.

Dean asks how and Cass says how many chances will we get. Dean says he’s had two shots at her and struck out both times. Lucifer says – tell me everything. Sam comes to talk to Mildred and he sees a poster in her room of when she was a Patsy Cline tribute singer.

Sam says they’re not really FBI and says they hunt monsters. She says she knew it. She says they’re too cute to be FBI. He shows her a pic of the banshee and says yes. He says banshees prey on the vulnerable and mentions her heart disorder.

She asks if she’s next and he promises to protect her. He says banshees only hunt at night so she should rest now. He asks her about Marlene the maid. She says Marlene is on vacation and he must be confused. She says her granddaughter is deaf and she can sign for him.

The maid takes her cart down the hall. Sam goes after her. He heads to the laundry room and sees a symbol on the wall. Marlene cuts her hand and slaps her hand on it and Sam is forced back to another symbol on the opposite wall.

Marlene accuses him of using an FBI badge to cover his kills. She has a gold blade. Sam says they’re hunters and are there to kill the banshee. He says to test him and holds out his hand. She cuts him with the gold blade and he survives.

She slashes the symbol and he’s free. She says her name is Eileen Leahy and says the banshee he’s hunting killed her parents. It made her deaf as a baby. She says a hunter found her with her ears bleeding. She shows him a book of notes tracking it.

She says Lillian raised and trained her then died of cancer when she was 15. She says she works alone because she has trust issues. She says her grandfather was part of a secret organization and he asks if it’s the Men of Letters.

He says he and Dean are legacies too. Dean tells Lucifer about his connection to Amara. He asks Dean if he’s attracted to her. Dean says he knows that’s bad – and says it scares him and doesn’t know if he can stop it or resist it. Cass says they’ll find out what it is.

He says it could help draw her out. Sam calls Dean and says look up Edward Durbin II in the files. He finds him and says she’s not lying. He says he was brought in in 1939 and sent to Europe. Mildred tells Eileen she’s got dibs on the tall brother.

Eileen asks if she’s sure she doesn’t want both. Dean and Sam make a plan and Dean says he doesn’t like using Mildred as bait. Sam asks if she has a shot with him and he says he always had a thing for Blanche on the Golden Girls and says don’t knock it til you try it.

Dean tells Cass/Lucifer to keep it between them what he said about Amara. Lucifer says he won’t be alone the next time he faces her. He thanks Cass and goes. Sam paints the symbol and Eileen says not bad. Now they have to wait.

Eileen says she’s nervous and he says revenge is not all it’s cracked up to be. He says killing her won’t bring her parents back. She says she doesn’t know them and only has pictures. Sam asks what will she do after she has her revenge. She says she has no idea.

She says her mom was a lawyer and maybe she’ll do that. He says he was pre-law at Stanford when his brother pulled him out to hunt with him. Dean shows up and Sam introduces him. Mildred shows up and pulls Dean over to show him something.

She sits him on the sofa and they watch the sun go down. She says West facing rooms cost more for the view. She says it’s almost as gorgeous as he is. He laughs. She asks when did he watch a sunset last without waiting for trouble.

She tells him to try it sometime and says she hopes it last. She asks if this can work. He sets a gold blade down near her and says everything will be fine. He asks what she did for work and she tells him about the Patsy Cline tribute band.

He asks if she missed life on the road and she says the secret to a long and happy life is to follow your heart. She says do that and all the rest figures it out. She says she traveled the world, made people happy then retired.

She tells him life there is great. He says her hand is on his knee and she offers to move it up. Dean hears the banshee noise. He calls to Sam. He collapses to the floor and Mildred says that’s what happened to Arthur. The banshee is there.

It disappears and then it’s behind Eileen and throws her back. Sam slashes it and it knocks him back too. Dean bangs his head against the wall and Mildred tries to get him to stop. Mildred cuts her hand and slaps the symbol to trap the banshee.

Eileen runs over and stabs it. Everything goes quiet for Dean. Mildred checks on his bleeding head. Sam thanks Eileen. Eileen and Sam walk out the next morning. She says it felt just like another kill. He asks what now.

She says this is her life and he says drop a line if she needs anything or wants to hang out. She says he can’t call her then says he could but she won’t answer. Mildred walks out and tells Dean it wouldn’t work out with them anyway since he’s pining for someone else.

She tells him to follow his heart and she doesn’t know who the lucky lady is but she’s jealous. He insists he’s single and ready to mingle and she says he knows where she lives. The guys take off. Mildred signs to Eileen that they look even cuter walking away.

Sam sits brooding when Dean comes in. He tosses his brother a beer. He asks why Cass was there and Dean says something seems off about him but Sam says that’s the way he always is and says being close to Lucifer wasn’t easy for Cass either.

Sam says Dean was right that working helped. He tells Dean that Lucifer showed him things like a highlight reel of his biggest life failures. Dean says he was just messing with him. Sam says he should have kept looking for him when he was in purgatory and has never forgiven himself.

Dean says he has forgiven him then says it’s in the past and it’s done. He says all that matters is they’re together. He says shut up and drink your beer. Sam wonders why the banshee went after him since they usually go after the vulnerable.

He says Sam is overthinking it and it saw his gold blade and went after him in self-defense. When Sam goes to bed, Dean looks like he’s brooding. Sam files away a brochure on the retirement home.

Dean goes to lie down in bed in his room and Sam in his. Dean lies awake then gets back up. He rubs his head and stares into space.

THE END!
