#TalkingDead starts with Tom Payne, Kid Cudi (Scott Mescudi) and Lauren Cohan. Lauren says she was really excited to work with Xander Berkeley (aka Gregory) and she says she was so excited. Chris Hardwick says Rick can’t go to a new neighborhood without getting their blood on him.
Chris says he saw that Scott tweeted he wanted to be on Talking Dead so they brought him on. He says he likes that Maggie is so strong and likes to see the characters arc to where they have to rise to the occasion. He adds about leaders in the group and says Maggie is suitable.
Chris says Maggie is fearless and knows agriculture. Chris says a bunch of people are tweeting about how strong Maggie is and that she should smash an egg in Greg’s face. Some called it Maggieland as what they should call Hilltop.
Chris now wants to talk about Jesus and says he’s iconic in the graphic novels. Tom says he wanted to honor the part. Tom says Jesus is the smoothest operator at Hilltop and runs more than you see and it’s easier for him to let Gregory think he’s the leader.
He says Jesus has more power at Hilltop than Gregory. Chris says everyone tweets wanting to know what color his eyes are and Tom says blue or green. Chris says they’re heaven and are made of dreams. Scott says he still doesn’t trust Jesus.
He says maybe he has a welcoming name like a trick to lure people in. Now the In Memoriam. We see walkers in the dark hallway and Ethan the neck stab dude. The tag line is that Rick makes the worst first impressions since the apocalypse began.
There’s a behind the scenes video when Daryl talks about a tough scene – he says running after the car that stole Beth was hard because they ran him in 100 degree weather. He says he thought the director was trying to kill him.
Chris mentions the Atlanta heat and asks Tom how he didn’t die with the heavy clothing he was wearing. Tom says he had a woolen hat, extensions, gloves and a leather trench then they ran him around a field and says it was like one more shot and he thought they were trying to kill him too.
Tom says he can’t grow a beard in a week and Chris says real Jesus can so he had to wear fake ones for a while. Chris tugs his beard and says it’s real now. Chris asks why he brought Rick’s group and Tom says that’s Jesus’ job to bring people into the community.
Scott says the Negan thing worries him since Rick and them are so eager to go face them and he thinks things are looming that Rick and them may not be able to face readily. He says they’ve been through so much and he’d ride with him.
Chris says he thought it was cocky but then says Rick’s speech makes sense because Negan will come for them. Maggie says they knew this is intel that the group is out there and usually they haven’t known about the bad guys.
Maggie says they know this will cost them but there’s an ideal to them. Scott says he loves when any of them are with the baby and says when Gabriel had the baby he was like no, don’t let him have her, he’s a coward.
Scott says he just wants Rick to give Carl a big hug. Chris says he liked it that Carl was cool about Michonne and his dad. Scott says there’s nothing wrong with some jungle fever. Now it’s time for the live quiz. Here we go…
#1 Which wrong name goes Gregory call Maggie? Natalie, Naomi or Nellie. Answer is Natalie. The actor who plays Greg, Xander Berkeley, binged TWD before he started and says it gave him nightmares.
#2 What does Rosita use to make Abraham’s gift? Fishing lure, toy truck, brake light. Answer: Brake light. The last gift necklace on TWD was when Andrea stole one for her sister Amy in season one.
#3 Which survivor found Dr Harlan after the wreck; Abraham, Rick, Glenn. Answer: Glenn. Harlan’s portrayer R Keith Harris was on AMC show Halt and Catch Fire.
We get a behind the scenes look at the snake wrangler Bob Lucas. He says he comes to set first and looks for snakes. He says he’s there for safety. Chris says there are many snake wranglers on TWD set. Tom say Jesus did a lot of snooping before he woke up Rick and Michonne.
Scott says he had to rewind and listen to Abraham’s Bisquick comment twice and says it’s great writing and so was Glenn’s reaction. Scott says that stuff is great in the show but says it’s dangerous to think about having a baby in that setting.
Maggie says whenever Michael Cudlitz is talking, she has to keep from laughing like his dolphin smooth remark. Chris says Michael is amazing on the show and says he’s not just one note. Then Chris holds up the baby sonogram and Lauren says it looks like her man.
Lauren says it’s nice when everyone melted looking at it – Daryl, Abraham and Michonne. Chris says there’s probably not a perfect time to have a kid in that world.
Now it’s Inside the Dead on tonight’s episode. Danai Gurira called the fight scene tonight “chaotic fun” and says you don’t mess with her man Rick. Then there’s a bit about Hilltop’s blacksmith and the weapons he’s forged.
Denise Huth shows us the Hilltop set and it was a cowfield when they started. It looks very authentic and we see the blacksmith shop. Grace Walker shows them the set they built. They say they used the comic as a blueprint.
Chris asks them about Hilltop and Lauren says it’s amazing and says it’s this dream community and the beautiful house. She says it was just great and is a brave new horizon. A fan comes up to ask Tom about when Rick and Daryl were bringing him back to Alexandria.
He asks if he was playing possum. Tom says if you’re knocked out that long, you’re probably dead. He says he thinks Jesus was shifting onto Daryl on purpose. Chris gives the fan a Jesus wig, beard and knit cap. He also gives him Abraham’s necklace and the sonogram photo.
Chris asks Scott about the chick that Michonne took down. He says Michonne is Rick’s ride or die. Scott says that’s the second time where Michonne has saved him and been there for him. Scott says now she saves him out of passion.
A caller asks Tom what was it like being there for the neck stabbing fight. He says that’s when he realized they don’t mess around. He says there were no stunt guys involved, Andy just threw himself at this giant guy. He says the attitude is that you can’t back off.
He says Ethan, who was killed, was one of their biggest guys and they killed him. He says it’s a big moment for Rick to take him down. Chris says they found the ultimate fan who will be on Talking Dead in a few weeks. It’s Greg Raewiski, a high school teacher.
He says they all turned into Carol when they found out he was in the running and they can upvote and downvote people in the running. Now a poll – how will Rosita react to a break up – furious, relieved or heartbroken?
Scott says Abraham has a lot of nerve since Daryl doesn’t have anyone and Abraham is trying to get with both. 75% say she will be heartbroken. Lauren says Rick and Michonne are like two best friends that decided to date and you’re like, oh yeah.
A twitter question asks how Maggie can stay so kind and loving. Lauren says if it ain’t broke don’t fix it more or break it. Now a poll of the favorite Abraham phrase from this episode – ugging bumplies, wearin galoshes or pouring the Bisquick. 91% voted Bisquick.
Now a peek at next week’s episode where Rick tells the Alexandria group what they have to do to earn the food and rations. He tells them about the killer Saviors and says they would find them like the Wolves did and would try to own us.
Rick says if they’re low on food, they could lose that fight and this is the only way to be sure. Rick says they have to win. Morgan looks very doubtful. Rick says this must be a group decision and says if anyone objects, say your peace now.
Chris says Morgan didn’t look psyched. Scott says Gabriel looked scared. Chris says he thinks Gabriel is playing with the group now. Now a Twitter question, what words of advice would Herschel give Glenn about being a dad. Maggie says Herschel taught Glenn to do the right thing.
Chris says he gets stressed every episode because he knows something big is coming. Next week is JB Smoove, the actors that play Tara and Aron.
THE END!
