Callie decided to support her old friend Daphne from Girls United on tonight’s episode of “The Fosters” in the young woman’s custody battle to reclaim her daughter. However, her support did come with consequences because the people that want to adopt Daphne’s daughter were set on a fight and didn’t mind lashing out at Callie by dragging her relationship with Daphne threw the mud. As well calling Callie’s assessment of Daphne into doubt.

Callie had apparently called Daphne a changed woman who has inspired others and also herself. Yet the other side questioned this when they brought up the fact Daphne had once beaten up Callie in juvenile hall. And that Daphne hadn’t even known Callie much less had a grievance against her when she viciously assaulted her for no good reason.

So that allowed the opposing counsel to make claims like Daphne not needing a reason to commit assault. And although several people can testify to Daphne supposedly being a better person, her recent attempt at kidnapping her daughter means she’s still has impulse control plus some could also say she was still a danger to others.

And therefore the judge had to come up with the only ruling she could. She suspended making an official declaration, but she told Daphne that unless she could reach gainful employment that would support her family and her daughter without using government assistance then the baby would stay with her foster parents. Who haven’t hidden the fact that they do want to adopt the child.

But Callie didn’t want Daphne to lose out because of technicality. So she later tried to get Daphne a job with Justina and Justina shut her down. She said that her privatization firm was really small and that they didn’t have space or even a budget to fit Daphne in. Only, as Callie would come to learn, Justina has a problem with telling the truth.

Starting with that story she had told Callie about a good friend of hers that was a foster kid that sadly was placed again with her mother the drug addict despite finally having found a good foster home. Yet there wasn’t a foster child named Lizzie. That was just a name that Justina came up with in order to stop Callie from finding out that she herself had been in foster care. And that the story of the child placed with a mother that couldn’t stay clean for more than two years – was Justina’s story.

So the lies were starting to mount up on Justina’s end. Though that lies about her past was understandable. Who wouldn’t want to change their past?

Mariana for one had wanted to forget what happened between her and Mat yet things had gotten complicated with the play. Mariana and Mat were working on the school play in Nick’s warehouse when Brandon told them that their chemistry was off. And with them being the leads in a Romeo & Juliette play – they definitely needed to portray some chemistry.

So Brandon had talked about it with them and had tried to get them to put a little more effort into their performances, but their problem wasn’t their lack of chemistry. It was just the awkwardness of pretending to be in love when they used to be.

And so Mat had gotten angry at Mariana in rehearsals. Which led to Nick getting angry at Mat however Mat’s new girlfriend Zoe was quick to point out that Mariana was no saint. That is right before she told him that Mariana and Mat had broken up because Mariana had cheated on Nick.

But that wasn’t the story that Mariana had told Nick so Mat’s girlfriend made her look like a liar. As well as serial cheater. And that only made Mariana upset when she thought Nick was going to then dump her, though Mat said he had never told Zoe what had happened in the past. Nor did he want to intentionally embarrass Mariana.

Brandon though later warned Mat. He hadn’t liked that Zoe had attempted to slut-shame his sister and so he told Mat that he needed to keep a better handle on this situation and on Zoe. At least before it gets further out of hand and someone actually gets hurt.

Which in a way was funny coming from Brandon because his parents only found out about Cortney when Stef accidentally saw them kiss each other goodbye. However, his relationship with Cortney wasn’t technically illegal. And to get his parents off his back he had reminded them that he was eighteen and that she was a mere three years older.

So when Stef started go on about how Gabe had only been three years older than Ana – Brandon told his parents that he would never allow them to file charges against his girlfriend and that they wouldn’t be able to do anything if there was no sex involved.

Yet, speaking of Gabe, he’s been helping out at the warehouse as a way to return the favor to Mariana and Jesus for writing letters to get him off the sex registry when he and Jesus began talking about the past. Like how Gabe knew that Ana was pregnant when he went to prison and that he had advised her to get an abortion because he knew she couldn’t raise a kid on her own. And it turns out he was right.

And that had been another mistake of his because he also told Jesus that nothing good came from his time with Ana.

Although, that had naturally offended Jesus. The young man would have liked to have known that Gabe considered he and Mariana were something good that had come out of his past with Ana. So the two were forced to talk about it after Gabe noticed how quiet Jesus had gotten following their last conversation. And, when he realized what he did, Gabe had apologized.

He said he was still learning about how to talk with him and that he needed time to adjust. However, time is going to be a problem. Mariana had apparently gone by the warehouse and had run into Gabe but the police had later found them together. And in no circumstances does a guy on a sex registry supposed to be seen with an underage teenage girl.

So Gabe was arrested and Mariana had tried to stop the cops yet her word alone couldn’t help and her calls her mother Stef had initially gone unanswered. Though that hadn’t been done on purpose. Stef had merely been away from her phone because Stef and Lena wanted to enjoy some quiet time at the house and Stef had a new haircut to show off.

But Callie ultimately did speak to Justina about her story and Justina admitted to lying again. She said the story was Lizzie’s and that she only claimed it was her own in order to garner sympathy as well as larger donations. And when Callie nearly called her out for that – Justina said that’s how the world works and that if Daphne wanted a job then Callie was going to need to understand a few things.

THE END!
