Laura was given a one of kind challenge. Apparently someone called her in panic, asking for help, and their death was caught on her voicemail message.

So on tonight’s episode of “The Mysteries of Laura”, the only thing that Laura had to work with was that message. And therefore Laura later had to turn to Meredith for help in filtering out all the other sounds until they were both finally able to detect where the murder had taken place. But, you know, then came the actual hard part. Which was figuring out why the victim had called Laura in his final moments because Laura didn’t remember the victim.

Laura had gone to the crime scene and she had seen the body for herself. Yet, for some reason, Laura couldn’t place him and usually she could always place a face. So in order to get to the bottom of the mystery – Laura ended up doing something she shouldn’t have. She went on to investigate the murder even though it was not in her jurisdiction. And she knew a private investigation was going to step on some toes.

But, surprisingly the risk paid off, Laura eventually placed the victim and so she was left with the even bigger problem of having the prime suspect in Ian Gendry’s death be her half-sister Lucy.

Lucy as it turns out was a bit like Laura though without the moral compass. So Lucy had always been the wild child of the family and Laura has tried for years to help her little sister. Although to no avail.

Lucy knew what she was and liked what she was. Which is why she had never apologized to her sister for stealing a case of whiskey and running off with the valet parking attendant from Laura’s wedding when she was 16. And why Lucy hadn’t contacted her sister despite being in the same city.

However, Laura had a dead body on her hands and her sister was nowhere around. Lucy and Ian had been together for a while and to be frank Lucy had been a big part in the scams that Ian used to run back when Laura knew him. So Laura figured it didn’t look good that Ian’s longtime girlfriend had been caught running away to Philadelphia to be with their aunt just when his body shows up.

And so Laura ended up arresting her sister as a way to keep her safe. For as long as Lucy was in the second precinct’s jail cell then the eighty-second couldn’t bully and/or arrest her.

Only Laura’s father hadn’t’ appreciated Lucy’s arrest. He seemed to think that Laura should have merely let her sister go when she found her. And he also failed to understand that Lucy was in a lot more trouble than being a suspect in her boyfriend’s murder.

There was apparently a drug counterfeiting charge on the table and, unfortunately, Lucy couldn’t deny that one.

Lucy had helped her boyfriend cut pharmaceuticals by half and replace the missing half with pure sugar. And together they had sold those pills to people in need. So Lucy was told that she was still going to jail, but then her father the former lawyer stepped in and had helped her out. Yet again.

Mr. Diamond had been allowed to see Lucy because Santiani hadn’t thought he would be that much a threat. But it turns out he was one because he told Lucy that the detectives had nothing on her seeing as no one had mirandized her. And therefore everything Lucy had admitted to them was technically inadmissible in court.

Laura though had been told if not commanded by her captain to fix the mess she caused. So with a little persuasion she was later able to convince her sister Lucy into helping her catch Ian’s killer. Primarily because there was a very real chance that Jimmy Chung will ultimately take out a hit on Lucy as well.

Ian, you see, had crossed a drug kingpin by the name of Jimmy Chung and there’s a reason no one has ever done that before. Jimmy had a temper. And Lucy it seems had known all along that he had ordered the hit out on Ian.

However, there was still a chance that Jimmy would do the same to Lucy because she had been in on the con up to her neck. So Lucy arranged a meeting between Jimmy and Laura. With Laura pretending to be a buyer for another shipment.

And the plan had led Jimmy’s arrest.

Yet Jimmy had sworn vengeance on Laura for catching him and later someone had taken shot at Laura at the press conference. That had sadly hit Santiani instead. So Santiani died on tonight’s all new episode and next week it’s the 2nd precinct that’s the one vowing revenge.

THE END!
