#TheRoyals starts with Cyrus and Helena arguing. He’s got a sword to her throat and she kicks him in the crotch. He demands to know what she did with Violet and then Alexandra hits him with a vase to get him off her. Helena can’t wake him.

Cyrus tells Ted that Alexandra could have killed him and he says the Duchess was defending the Queen according to their statements. He says Violet has gone missing last night and then Ted asks if he drank Scotch, took drugs then attacked the Queen with a sword.

Cyrus says he makes it sound worse. He says they need to restrict access based on new threats and Cyrus says that’s boring. He wonders then if Violet is in danger. Ted asks why the queen would be involved. He says the queen knows he was going to propose to Violet.

He says the queen will stop at nothing to protect her station. Ted asks if she’d commit murder and Cyrus says no doubt. Ted asks him to retrace his steps. He says after the broadcast, he put on music back in his room and worried about Violet.

We see him doing coke and then Violet came in. He says he’s so glad she’s back and tells her he loves her. But it’s Helena and he mistook her for Violet. She tells him to settle down but he says he can’t because he’s worried about Violet.

Helena asks what happened before Violet left. She asks if Violet said I love you back and says maybe the girl needs space. She says he’s picked out an engagement ring already and may be moving too fast. He asks how she knew that.

Helena says she could just be overwhelmed and says she’s only been gone five hours. Helena says he’s the king of England and being queen is not for everyone. She leaves. Cyrus calls Violet’s cell and gets no answer.

Helena goes to her room and we see Eleanor pouting in her room. Cyrus keeps doing coke and then starts boozing as well. He thinks about her promising to be back before his broadcast and then about Helena calling Violet the maid.

He sees the sword on his desk and grabs it up. Alexandra sips tea as he walks past with the sword. She follows, picks up a vase and bashes him in the head. She tells them people are trying to sleep. The sword still lies near Helena’s throat.

Ted wakes from a sexy dream and says Jasper is looking into the king’s death. Ted is hallucinating his dead wife talking to him while in sexy lingerie. He takes a call from the king and says he’s on the way. She calls him the king’s bitch as he leaves.

Eleanor wakes and sees James Hill dusting her room. She calls him Foxy then says she likes her things left alone. He shows her that he’s neatly organized all of her drugs into a nice tin. She tells him well done then sees an envelope. He says it’s a gift from Mr Frost.

She tells him to stay while she opens it and sees the earrings that she gave to Mandy. James says they have her under security and can arrest her anytime Eleanor wants but it would also implicate Jasper.

James then says he owes her an apology and she asks why. He says he should have known that all her friends would be shit. She tells him he’s slightly amusing and then tries to guess his secret. She’s wrong again.

Liam comes in and says the drug thing is getting old. She says his vice is sleeping with models and he can’t talk. He says he wants to figure out if their mother is an assassin. She looks at the photo then tells him to stay there.

She says she’s going to give their mom the benefit of the doubt before they call her murderer. She leaves. Helena tells Cyrus to get up and stop being dramatic but he’s still stock still in her bed. Helena comes out to talk to her in the hall.

Eleanor says she found this photo and asks who this girl is. Helena lies and says she doesn’t recall. She says if she wants to leave the photo with her, she can try and find out more. Eleanor says okay then gets cold with her mom and walks away.

Eleanor goes back and tells Liam – the bitch did it, what do we do now? Liam eavesdrops on Cyrus and Tom talking about Helena. He says he heard the word murder and Eleanor asks if Ted might know about this.

Eleanor says her mother lied about the photo right in her face. They think Cyrus and Ted are talking about this when they’re really talking about Violet. Eleanor says she’s going to go get high and says come get her when he’s ready to confront their murdering mom.

Eleanor says things just keep getting worse. Ted comes back to find his ghost wife still haunting him, this time with a bloody abdomen as she scoffs about the flowers on her graves then says he got her killed. She says people get killed all the time around here.

Helena puts on makeup and looks at a photo her and baby Eleanor. Eleanor has the same pic and uses it to dump out her pot as she rolls a joint. Liam sits staring at the photo and brooding. He hides it when someone knocks. Ted has a large vase of flowers.

He says there were outside his door then asks him about the necklace and mentions Dominique Stewart and says she was a rival of his mothers. He says Liam needs to talk to his mother and ask for the truth. Ted says be resilient then says he’ll always be there for him.

Liam and Eleanor come to talk to Helena. She tells them she was their father’s first love and Eleanor accuses her over poisoning Domonique’s horse. She says the horse threw her and Eleanor says the horse was drugged. Helena insists she didn’t do this.

Alexandra comes in and says she did it and calls them spoiled brats and says they should thank her for it. She tells them that monarchies don’t just happen. She says someone has to make it happen and she made this.

Eleanor asks how she can do this and Alexandra says with a great deal of planning. She says one day they will understand their place in history and know it was all worth it. Helena says that’s enough and Alexandra goes to take her tea in the garden.

He tells her kids she’s sorry and Eleanor is disgusted. Liam says everything they are is built on murder and Helena says she’s waited 30 years and hoped once the truth was out, the weight would lift from her shoulders.

She says she feels sad that they know. She says the truth is the weight is even greater now and she’s sorry. She walks away. The twins are disgusted. Alexandra comes to find Helena and says the kids will be fine. She tells Helena not to lose sight of the prize.

Helena realizes that Alexandra has done something to Violet. She tells her mother to walk away. She says she hopes her mother has nothing to do with Violet’s disappearance and says if she did, it’s on her. Alexandra says it always is.

Helena screams at her that it’s always on her, not her mother. Eleanor says their dad loved that girl and they killed her. She asks what they can do. Liam says their grandmother will go to prison if they talk. Eleanor says her grandmother bought her love.

Liam says maybe they should just end it and encourage people to vote for the referendum. He says they could take it all away from them. Eleanor tells Liam to decide and says she’s not strong enough but he says she is.

Ted comes to see Cyrus and says they found Violet’s vehicle. He says it was off the M25 and there are signs of foul play. He says she may still be alive but there is blood in the car and she’s not in any of the hospitals where they checked.

Ted says they’re looking for a body now, not the woman. Then he hands Cyrus something from the car – it’s a locket with photos of Violet as a child and her brother. It was the trinket she was bringing back for Cyrus. He’s in tears.

Liam asks Cyrus if he knew they killed her and then realizes Liam is talking about someone else. He says Dominique Stewart and Cyrus says he thought it was an accident then tells him that Violet is missing and he thinks they killed her too.

He asks Liam if he’d put it past them. Cyrus says Liam should be glad he took being king from him and Liam says this has to stop. Cyrus says King John was the first King of England to be accused of murder. Then he talks about King Herrod ordering every male child killed.

Cyrus says this palace was built on blood and says every empire is. Liam tells him he’s sorry about Violet and he hopes she comes home. Cyrus says she won’t. He says they always take the good ones.

Liam comes to see his mother and asks if any of it was worth it. He hands her the photo. He says she knew her crown was a lie and asks what good she put into the world. She says her kids and he reminds her she declared them illegitimate.

He says Alexandra did this for herself not Helena. He asks her about Violet and if she had anything to do with it. She insists she had nothing to do with it but doesn’t know about Alexandra. She says they don’t even know about Violet.

She says she thinks Dominique’s family killed his brother and father. Liam says they didn’t and for all they know, Alexandra may have done it. He tells her to deal with her homicidal mother and says if anything comes out about Dominique he won’t lie about it. She says good.

James finds Eleanor messing up her neatly stored drugs. She asks him to come in then asks if he’s there to rob her, dominate her or have sex with her mother. He jokes no but says he knows job requirements can change. She says her father would have liked him.

She asks if he quit the force to help a wayward girl. He pauses and then comes over and shows her a photo of his daughter Sarah. He sits and says he had an older brother that he lost too early in life. He says Sarah is his niece and now he’s raising her.

He says his brother and his wife died and then he had another life so he could provide for Sarah. He says it changed everything he knew about the world. He says he was angry about things and how there was no more certainty.

James says when he got Sarah she couldn’t even speak yet but she saved him. He says he spent 27 years as a cop trying to make a difference and then in six seconds she showed him a better world with her goodness and brilliance.

He says Sarah told him that he should help the royal family because they look sad. He says good work Princess and calls her a crack detective. She says he amuses her and he says she can call him James. She thanks him. He goes.

Eleanor puts all her drugs back into the tin that James got her and shuts the lid. Liam meets with Dominique’s namesake niece and asks how her dad Jeffrey knows about the tunnels then asks to meet with him but she says no.

He says give him a message and says to tell him he’s sorry. He says his mother didn’t kill her aunt. He takes her upstairs into the palace to show her something. He takes her to a portrait of his dad and says she would have liked his father.

He says his dad laughed and most leaders don’t. He says he was kind. Then he takes her into his room and she asks why he’s showing her this. He says this might have been her room if things had been just.

She says her perception of Liam is not just because of her father but because what the palace press has put out there. She asks if he’ll show the world what he’s showing her – or at least show her dad. She has her phone and says just talk.

She shoots video of him. She says tell me about your family and asks if they’re good or bad. He says they’re just a family like any family but then they’re not. Alexandra comes to see Helena and says she’s leaving. She asks if she wants to apologize for her outburst.

Helena says she’s stripping her mother’s title, stipend and staff – that or she can go to jail. Cyrus is there and says Alexandra poisoned Violet when she made her tea, just like she did the horse. He says Violet was not who he planned to marry.

He says this is the mother of his son – the heir to the throne. He opens the door so they can see the woman with him then says – you killed the wrong maid bitch. Liam says the monarchy and England have been shaped by violence and conflict.

He says good people have been lost along the way. Eleanor comes to see her mom and says it was a difficult day. She tells Helena that no one has lost more or sacrificed more than her mother and no one gives her sympathy. Helena says no one should cry for the queen.

Eleanor says queens get their hearts broken too. She gives her mom the earrings and says her grandmother was wrong about all of it. Helena tells her she’s sorry and Eleanor says at least they had a good day yesterday. She kisses her mother’s cheek.

Helena leaves the earrings on the balcony. Ted comes back later and pulls the camera off the flowers he left in Liam’s room. Liam talks on video how extraordinary his father was and how much he grieved the loss of his son.

Liam says his father told him to choose love and his own path. Liam says he loves England and says he knows this monarchy can be relevant and inspiring. He says too many good people have been lost and they need to make things right.

Eleanor watches her brother’s video that he posted online. We see someone leaving a comment that’s #KingLiam.

THE END!
