Palmer was back on his feet on tonight’s episode of “The Strain” and unfortunately his arrogance has returned as well.

Palmer had finally fulfilled the bargain that he had made with the professor however he wasn’t fine with just handing over information. He also apparently wanted to be part of the team. Palmer had wanted to go with the professor and Fet to interrogate one of his own men that had turned against him and was now working directly with Eichorst. But he hadn’t taken it too well when both men had said that they didn’t need pass the part where he handed over information to them. So Palmer had gotten into a bit of a sniff by that. He had said that he wanted to be talked to with respect and so he thought that Fet would apologize for saying that he didn’t trust Palmer however the professor had filled him on some truths.

The professor mentioned that Palmer depended on them for the white and not just any white, but that he could take without turning. So that served to remind Palmer that he wasn’t in the position of strength. He couldn’t dictate to them when they were the best chances he had at surviving. However, the two men hadn’t been joking when they said they couldn’t trust Palmer. He had betrayed the professor once before so neither of them had exactly trusted Palmer’s information. They said that it could be a trap and so they prepared for that eventuality. And instead, Palmer had actually been telling the truth when he handed over his own man.

The guy that Fet had later beaten up had had information on what Eichorst and the Master had shipped in. But funnily enough, the cowed young man had said that he needed time to get his hands on everything. He said that Eichorst had taken great care with the shipment and what that really meant was that Eichorst had kept certain things shrouded in mystery even to the people that were prepared to betray Palmer for him. So the professor and Fet had their hands busy while Quinlan was trying to reach out to the Old Ones in the New World. Quinlan had been tasked by the professor to finding out if their theory was right and the Master had brought another Old One into the city yet the Old Ones were admittedly smug.

They had recalled after all that Quinlan had said that he would never see them again and had also said they were basically gathering dust. Yet, Quinlan had managed to keep a level head despite what was thrown back into his face. He had merely wanted information and so he took what the Old Ones were dishing out though they surprisingly didn’t have much to say. They had been evasive and while what they didn’t amount to much – the professor and Fet at least hadn’t been led down the wrong path. They found out that Eichorst was setting up blood factories and that the shipment from Egypt was so important that Eichorst had overseen its transfer himself.

The professor and Fet had nearly caught Eichorst in their crosshairs however he always seems to allude them and tonight he got away with shipment. Though Eichorst’s time will come and Gus will make sure of that more than ever. Gus had unfortunately been put in the position where he had to choose between Angel and his turned mother. So Gus had chosen to save Angel and had to put his own mother down. And so he blames himself for her death because he knew that his mistake many months ago was how the strigoi were able to take over New York.

But while Gus was admittedly grieving, he had lost all of his hopes. Gus no longer believed that New York could be saved and maybe it can’t. Quinlan had still been meeting with the Old Ones when Eichorst made his move. Eichorst had amassed an army to take out the Old Ones because like expected the Master had wanted them gone. So the Old Ones tried fighting back and Quinlan had even helped them yet Eichorst had prepared for all possibilities. He had actually unleashed the army against the Old Ones to keep them distracted and, when they were, he had left their tunnel. And detonated a bomb.

So there’s a chance that all of the Old Ones that were in the New World are gone, but Quinlan had been making his escape and was probably still alive. However, the professor and Fet had come to a certain point in their relationship with Palmer where they don’t think they can work with him. Palmer had seemingly known about the blood factories since the beginning and he hadn’t put a stop to it because he had cared more about living forever than he did about his fellow human. And so that had reminded the professor about what people could do if they thought that there was something they could get out of it.

And the professor nearly drew his sword on Palmer when Fet stopped him. Palmer had had his own security there at the meeting and so Fet didn’t want the professor getting hurt Yet, who hasn’t gotten hurt since the strigoi took over the city. They killed everyone that has tried to stop them and the Master’s voice alone almost killed Dutch when she finally heard it for the first time. So maybe the humans are going to lose the war.

THE END!
