Zach was fortunate. He hadn’t been turned into a strigoi last week after the Master had given him some of his venom. So the Master does apparently know a way to strengthen someone without turning them. However, he chose to share that secret with someone like Zach who was having an asthma attack at the time than with someone like Eldritch Palmer who just wants to be an immortal though without the nasty side-effects. And so Palmer had been right when he said that the Master was purposely withholding the cure from him.

But when Palmer grew bored waiting for his “turn”, he had gone to the professor for help. Professor Setrakian however, hadn’t given Palmer answers to the white or how he had been able to take vampire venom without turning himself. So Palmer was at a loss meanwhile, the professor and his favorite exterminator were wondering how they could use Palmer’s desperation to their advantage. The professor and Fet had talked about Palmer and the deal the other had seemingly wanted to make in exchange for the nonlethal white so they both felt that they could use what he wants against him.

The two men knew that Palmer was one of the Master’s best assets so they were considering giving Palmer the wrong idea about the white to get him to stop working for the Master, but something stopped them from discussing the plan immediately with either Quinlan or Eph. Such as both men being gone and the Occido Lumen book having also disappeared. So it didn’t take much to make the professor and Fet suspect one if not both men taking the book with them. Though while the professor was just angry at the situation, Fet on the other hand, had had a plan.

Fet had told the professor that he had made a contingency plan if the book ever went missing. Fet admitted that he had hidden a tracker in the bindings of the book in case a muncher or nonmuncher ever tried to take it. So all they had to do to find the book again was to look up the data for the tracker and they simply drive to the location. Yet, Fet had noticed that the book and the tracker was slowly moving out of the safety zone. And so he had made sure that both the professor and himself had been armed to the teeth.

Though both men and Fet in particular, had thought that it was just Quinlan that had taken the book and they hadn’t thought differently until they saw that the book was traveling by boat. Strigoi apparently couldn’t cross a body of water and so the only way the book could be transported by boat was if Quinlan had a human helper. Something that had the professor and Fet both uneasy. So the men didn’t know what they were walking into yet they stopped believing that Quinlan had turned against them when they followed the signal and found him trying to kill the Master.

Quinlan and Eph had initially tried looking through the Lumen however, they couldn’t find the key to the Master’s destruction in there and couldn’t afford to keep killing time. So the men came up with a new plan. The plan was that Eph would agree to hand over the book at a location he would chose though Quinlan would be there as well ready to strike so basically their plan was to make it look as if Eph wasn’t about to betray the master. But meeting at the docks had set off some alarm bells because the Master wisely chose not to show up at the meeting place by himself. The Master had chosen to bring some of the Navy SEALS he had recently turned and the SEALs didn’t lose their skills in the turning.

The SEALs had showed up at the docks armed and they had merely waited for the Master’s single before shooting at anyone they believed would arm the Master. However, what was curious about everything was the fact that neither the Master nor a turned Kelly brought Zach with them. Zach was supposed to have been part of the bargain they made with Eph. So Eph hadn’t wanted to make a move against the Master until he knew his son was safe and unfortunately he never got that confirmation tonight because the Master had been planning on betraying him while he had been planning on betraying the Master.

But just as the Master moved against Eph and was going to kill him once Kelly got her hands on the Lumen, Quinlan appeared and tried killing the Master. So that’s what the professor and Fet walked in on and luckily the men had been able to help in the fight. The professor and Fet had carried one of Eph’s special bombs with them and so they had made mincemeat out of the SEALs. Which allowed Quinlan or Quintus as his mother knew him to move in and decapitate the body the Master was currently using however there was one drawback to the beheading. The worm it seems that carried the Master’s essence was able to escape from its host body and fell into the sewers before anyone could stop it.

The Master therefore, was still alive. Albeit in a weaken condition. Though he didn’t get his hands on the Occido Lumen and that meant Eph along with the professor and Fet could still end him if they ever realize exactly what the book holds. So they all live to fight another day, but Quinlan had been injured in the fight against the SEALs and the fact he came so close to ending the Master and failed might just haunt him in the weeks to come. Especially as he had wanted to kill the Master out vengeance for what happened to him and the loving maternal figure he had been forced to kill after the Master made him hurt someone he cared about.

So it was one step forward and two steps back on tonight’s episode of “the Strain” though there was still hope because they had the book and the book knew how to kill the Master. Yet, the guys weren’t alone because a human army was surprisingly being forcibly recruited right under everyone’s nose. The police had apparently arrested Gus and his friend Angel for harboring Gus’s strigoi mother so the police could have kept the two men in jail. And instead, they chose to conscripted both men into Sweeper teams in their war against the strigoi.

THE END!
