#VoiceResults starts with a performance by DNCE. They perform Cake by the Ocean. Next, Carson talks about Mother’s Day and they run a package about the artists, judges and moms. The artists introduce their moms in a special confessional.
We also see Christina with her son. Pharrell talks about his mom Dr Williams and Blake gives a shout out to his mom too. Adam Levine offers a big virtual hug and Christina says she loves her mom too. It’s all very sweet.
Carson talks to Daniel who says Pharrell taught him the important of surrounding yourself with good people. Shalyah talks about finding inspiration for her performances and she says it’s passion for music that drives her and giving her gift out to others.
Now for the first results of the night. America saved, from Team Christina, Alisan Porter.
Adam then talks about working with Laith and Shalyah and how different they are. He says he just works to allow them to shine while doing what they want to do. Pharrell says a music career takes a long time and you have to give yourself time to do what you’re supposed to do.
Christina says she hopes that her whole team moves on and says they all deserve to make it through. She says she doesn’t count blessings before they happen. Blake says if they deliver a solid vocal and connect with it, they don’t have to have a big entertaining moment.
Now the next results. The other nine come out except for Alisan who is already in the top 9. Carson talks to Mary Sarah about traditional country and she says you should understand where music comes from and she found out the roots of that music at a young age.
He asks Bryan Bautista about his Spanish language performance and Bryan says it’s important to him to be genuine and has had many musical influences growing up and wants to show the different sides of him and who he is as an artist.
Now we found out two more that are safe. America saved, from Team Blake, Adam Wakefield. Also safe, from Team Adam, is Shalyah Fearing. That means only Pharrell does not have an artist in the top 9 so far tonight.
Season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks is back and he sings his song 4 Pockets. He plays his guitar and sings – in his trademark hat and still with that awesome long hair. It’s a very rockabilly bluesy sort of number that’s amazing. Sawyer rocks.
Now the remaining seven artists come out. Hannah talks about Pharrell and says it’s humbling that he turned around for her and has continued to coach her. She says it’s been a growing experience and he’s an encourager and enabler and says he’s a true coach.
Paxton talks about Blake and thanks him for his unwavering support. He says he helped him grow and go into rehearsals and do his thing and can’t ask for anything else and then thanks Blake again. Blake nods his appreciation.
Now two more results. America saved, from Team Pharrell, Hannah Huston. America also saved, from Team Blake, Mary Sarah. All the coaches are now part of the top 9.
Carson asks Laith about Adam and he says Adam has encouraged him to play guitar more and says Adam gets that the guitar is part of who he is and says he’s glad he chose Adam because he’s so supportive about how he is.
Nick Hagelin thanks Christina for bringing him back and says he doesn’t see this as a competition but an opportunity for development to become a better artist. He says Christina has continued to encourage him to be who he is as an artist. Now we find out the bottom two that will sing for the instant save.
America saved, from Team Christina, Bryan Bautista. Next safe, from Team Adam, is Laith Al-Saadi. Last revealed as safe, from Team Blake is Paxton Ingram.
Daniel Passino from Team Pharrell and Nick Hagelin from Team Christina will sing for the #VoiceSave instant save.
Nick Hagelin is first and he sings Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud. He does a nice job and gets lots of cheers. Christina encourages the crowd. Adam says he thinks Nick is talented and loves music and says people are even more important and he shows him that he’s in this for the right reasons.
Adam says Nick should be the one moving forward. Coach Christina says Adam can be a tough critic and he’s that guy that everyone falls in love with and says Nick has come so far in the course of the competition and has grown so much. She says the fans have been awesome to him.
Next is Daniel Passino and he does Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk. He really funks it up. It’s good. Coach Pharrell says when he thinks about all Daniel has done and what he wants out of it, he wants him to move forward and says for me, he’s content with what he’s achieved.
He says if he can move on, that’s amazing. If not, they had a goal to show the world what he had to offer and Nick has been giving it to them in installments. He says he’s happy with what Daniel has done, learned and achieved.
Now it’s instant save time with #VoiceSaveNick or #VoiceSaveDaniel tweets and retweets for the next five minutes.
Back from the break, there are last minute comments from Coach Christina who talks up Nick and says vote now to save him. Coach Pharrell says Daniel has done what he needed and deserves to stay. Carson announces the Voice Save window is closed.
Nick Hagelin was saved and Daniel Passino is eliminated!
