“The Walking Dead” spoilers reveal that we’ll know in the opening moments of the TWD Season 7 premiere on October 9, who Negan killed and who died on the Season 6 finale. All signs point to Glenn (Steven Yeun) for many reasons. We know that Glenn died in the comics and so that’s a likely outcome for the show as well, but there’s more to it.
One intrepid fan has broken down the eeny meeny miny moe scene from the Season 6 finale and the logic seems pretty solid. The complete video analysis is below but we’ll take a quick look at a few of the points and why we wholeheartedly agree that poor Glenn seems like the de facto dead guy.
The order that Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) went in The Walking Dead Season 6 finale with eeny meeny was not side to side but middle to left then over to the right then back over to the left where Glenn was next to Rosita (Christian Serratos). Based on this pattern, the bat ends up right in front of Glenn.
Another fan slowed down the audio of the final moments during the beating and it sounds like Glenn utters the words “Mag… Maggie” as he’s struck which mirrors the dialog from the comics. It also sounds like you can hear Maggie (Lauren Cohan) calling out for Glenn.
“The Walking Dead” showrunners said they thought that fans would “Zapruder” the footage – for younger readers, that refers to the footage of the JFK shooting that has been analyzed ad nauseam over the years. Sure enough, that’s what this fan did and he may have found the answers we want.
One other point raised in the video of interest is this photo:
According to the fan theory, which is reflected in a re-watching of TWD Season 6 finale “Last Day on Earth”, we only see one of the possible victims of Negan’s beloved bat Lucille in this pose. He’s the only one that faces the bat at this angle. This is nearly identical to the comics just before Glenn is beaten to death.
Everyone else faces the bat with the camera aimed from Negan’s perspective as shown above with Sasha. It’s only Glenn that faces Lucille as seen from the viewer’s perspective. That could be a MAJOR hint that’s what we the viewers will see when TWD Season 7 kicks off.
Plus, two other Easter eggs from the past seasons hint that Glenn meets his maker at the barbed wire end of Lucille. At Terminus, Glenn was threatened with a baseball bat and when Glenn was with the gang at Noah’s Wolf-ravaged neighborhood, he found a bat and carried it around with him.
TWD fans may feel cheated if it’s anyone BUT Glenn since him dying in the books was a critical, memorable and heartbreaking moment. All signs (and Negan’s bat) seem to point to Glenn dying. What do you think fans of “The Walking Dead”?
