“The Young and The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Genoa City will soon get a new resident. Former Another World actress Alicia Coppola has been cast as Meredith Gates, a prison doctor who is sympathetic to the criminals she cares for – but just who is it that will be her patient?
Alicia Coppola is a busy and successful actress, so landing her for Y&R is quite the coup. In addition to Another World, she’s been on Star Trek, NYPD Blue, CSI, Ally McBeal, NCIS, Medium, Jericho, Sons of Anarchy and too many other quality programs to list. She’s a real talent.
With her playing a prison doctor and Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) criminal trial starting this week, we have to wonder if she’ll be tending to The Moustache while he’s behind bars. Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) is planning on throwing Victor’s case, but Victor knows that and will reveal all to court.
The Young and the Restless spoilers ask if Victor’s plan to turn the tables on Michael and the other Newmans who have aligned to testify against him fail? Will The Moustache end up serving time? We’ve seen him suffering a few medical issues, so it seems like a prison doc could be called for – we’ll see.
And if it’s not Victor, who could it be? Phyllis Abbott (Gina Tognoni) still has not been identified as the kidnapper of Adam Newman (Justin Hartley). Could Victor know her crime and that’s the ace up his sleeve to force her to stop pursuing the criminal case against him?
Y&R spoilers tease that it could be Phyllis that ends up in jail for her felonious actions against Adam. Alternately, either Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) or Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) could take the fall in her place to protect Phyllis. But she might not let them do it.
Phyllis might need a prison doc if she turned up pregnant or something…. There’s also Ian Ward (Ray Wise) who is still in prison and might crop up again for May sweeps – that’s a possibility of who might be Dr Gate’s patient.
Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) will likely stay in the nut house, but if they moved her to regular prison, she’s a possible patient. The most obvious choice is Victor, though, although it’s hard to imagine Y&R showrunners would let their star player rot in Genoa City jail. But you never know.
No word yet on how long her character arc will be or how prominent of a role Alicia Coppola will have as Dr Gates. Coppola hasn’t been on a soap since she left Another World in 1993 where she played Lorna Devon – so we want to welcome her back to the world of daytime drama!
What do you think Y&R fans? Are you excited to see Alicia Coppola on the CBS soap? Who do you think will end up in the prison infirmary? Victor? Phyllis? Ian? Some other hapless Genoa City citizen that gets caught for a crime they committed?
