The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Hilary (Mishael Morgan) will throw herself at Jack (Peter Bergman) one more time. Devon (Bryton James) won’t be aware of her overture this go-round, so he also won’t suspect that the paternity of the baby she’ll be carrying is in question. But will Hilary’s first child be genetically linked to Jack or to her husband?
Now wait just one minute! Viewers are expected to digest the idea that Jack Abbott would fool around with Hilary Hamilton? Why that’s not hard to believe at all. The woman is very attractive and as aggressive as any social climber in the Heartland. And the ladies have loved Jack since he was originally portrayed by the late (2003) Terry Lester.
On two different past occasions Hilary locked lips with Jack, purely of her own volition. He was flattered the first time, but advised his then-employee that her mistake was understandable considering her health condition. However, Mr. Abbot wasn’t pleased the second time Hilary made a pass, telling her that he was married and that they were nothing more than colleagues and hopefully, friends.
As viewers know, Jack is currently a free agent. Yes, he’s quite a bit older than Hilary. In fact there’s such an age gap (Bergman was born in 1953, Morgan in 1986) that he could easily be her father. But soap operas are far from the only realms where younger women pursue older men based upon their wealth and social position. Of course, younger men have been pursuing older women far more often due to their increasing positions of power during recent decades as well.
Yes, various digital detractors will claim faux outrage about Y&R’s bad writing. They’ll rant to random strangers about rehashed storylines, spurning expected dittos from fellow thinkers along the way. All the while seasoned soap devotees will remain focused on the story, steeped in the wisdom that escapist fiction is meant to stretch reality.
Jackie used to be quite the playboy in his day. But that was years before Phyllis (originally played by Michelle Stafford) commanded his attention. As Jack continues to distance himself from his ex-wife, his passion outside of business won’t diminish. Life isn’t all about work, it’s also about play. So, hello Hilary.
With no ring on Jack’s finger and an aggressively sexy pursuer he’ll finally agree to tango. Hilary’s baby will win either way. That child will be a billionaire’s offspring, or an Abbott heir. In either instance, Hilary will be tied to riches and the scorn of an entire family.
