The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Sofia Pernas Demoted to Recurring Status – Y&R Claims Marisa Will Appear in GC

“The Young and The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers reveal that news that Sofia Pernas had been released from her contract as Marisa Sierras, recent fiancée of Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) was not quite the whole story. Sofia is demoted to recurring status, she isn’t fired.

The reason behind Sofia Pernas alleged “termination” was given as budget concerns, but after news ran wild on the internet, Y&R released a statement saying Sofia Pernas was NOT fired as Marisa Sierras but said “She’s recurring and will continue to be seen on the show.”

The Young and the Restless spoilers say that what’s 100% true is that Sofia Pernas did land a role on The CW pilot Transylvania, so if that gets picked up and turns into a full-time gig, who knows what will happen. We’ve also seen that “recurring” status on “The Young and The Restless” can be interpreted many ways.

Lauralee Bell is recurring as Christine Williams and we see her rarely – only when someone is in trouble with the law. And Tristan Rogers’s Colin Atkinson seems to be a fixture at parties and little else. So Y&R spoilers claim that how much we see of Sofia Pernas’ Marisa after her taped scenes are completed is a big question mark.

Marisa is tied into several major storylines now where a prolonged absence would definitely prove problematic. For instance, she’s got that pending divorce from Luca Santori (Miles Gaston Villanueva) and assuming that goes well, a marriage to Noah.

Sofia Pernas is just shy of her one-year anniversary on Y&R – she started in early summer 2015 – so we also have to wonder if her contract was for a year and her recurring status will run out in June. For now, though, we can expect to see more of Sofia as Marisa since she’s been taping episodes.

Assuming it gets picked up, the Moroccan-born actress would be a series regular on The CW show Transylvania – but we also know the vast majority of pilots die a quick and merciful death. However, with her exotic good looks and stellar acting chops, she’d be great to watch on a supernatural show.

As far as her Y&R status goes, Sofia Pernas has remained radio silent, but did retweet an article about her status change. Sofia did publish several tweets, though, about her new role. On The CW’s Transylvania, she’ll play Coriander, an “exotic gypsy” woman.

Sounds exciting and we look forward to seeing what Y&R is going to do with Marisa and her current storylines to facilitate her bump to recurring status. Let’s hope we see more of her than we do of Lauralee Bell and Tristan Rogers!
