“The Young and The Restless” (Y&R) spoilers tease that there may be far more to hacker Natalie (Mara McCaffray) than we’ve seen. Right now, she’s a possible love interest for Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) but could she also have family ties to the Newman? Is she Nick Newman’s (Joshua Morrow) love child?
Natalie shares a bit of her backstory with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). She says “You know where I was raised? An orphanage in Zurich. I got out, changed my name, changed my life, sound familiar?” For those without Google Maps, Zurich is in Switzerland.
That’s where Nick went to boarding school. Nick definitely could have knocked up a local Swiss miss (or a wealthy boarding school classmate) back in the day and agreed to put the kid up for adoption (but she ended up in an orphanage instead) – or never even knew about the pregnancy.
Either way, Victor could be sitting across the desk from his granddaughter and preparing to swap her to ruthless men unknown in exchange for Adam Newman’s (Justin Hartley) life. Also of interest is that Natalie seems to have made a study of Victor.
She told him, “You’re a legend – I plan to be one too.” And why would Natalie come all the way to Wisconsin from Europe? If Natalie knows she’s a Newman, running in to Kevin would have been the perfect excuse to insinuate herself into the fabric of Genoa City and get to know her family.
Natalie is a hacker extraordinaire. It would have been an easy enough task for her to crack into the birth records and find out who her mother was – and if her dad wasn’t listed, she did more digging. Then when the opportunity to work with Kevin came up, it was her chance to check out the Newmans.
Right off the bat, Natalie seems to be evaluating Victor. Plus, why would she go and offer to help save Adam? She doesn’t know Adam at all – and she knows going to Victor could put her in danger. But if she doesn’t want to get off on the wrong foot with her family, saving her uncle makes sense.
For someone who grew up in an orphanage with no family at all, the Newmans would be of great interest to Natalie and she would not want to estrange them right away by letting her Uncle Adam get hurt because of her.
The smart move for Natalie’s self-preservation would have been to stay hunkered in the room at the GCAC – or head out of town and escape the mess. But Natalie did neither – she went to Victor and put all her trust in him.
Why would anyone put their trust in Victor? Even if you don’t know how rotten he can be, a quick Google search would show Natalie the disaster The Mustache has left in his wake. But this is her chance to get to know her grandfather and get in good with him by helping save Adam.
After Victor promised to keep her safe and let her finish the program, he has her stashed away. But then he types up an email saying “Ready to trade. The girl for my son.” Dylan McAvoy (Steve Burton) will talk to him about the kidnapping and then Victor clicks his mouse – but was it to send or delete the email?
What do you think Y&R fans? Is Natalie the long-lost daughter of Nick? Is she Noah Newman’s (Robert Adamson) half-sister and related to half of Genoa City? The timing fits for Nick being in Switzerland when she was conceived and her being an orphan puts lots of possibilities in play as to her background.
But did Victor just consign his granddaughter to torment or death with that email? Share your comments below and come back to CDL often for more “The Young and The Restless” spoilers and news.
