Tonight’s episode of Wayward Pines kicks off in 2034, a pod opens up, and CJ Mitchum wakes up. He puts on some classical music and sits down and the desk and checks in on the other pods, then he proceeds to clean them all. After what seems like hours of CJ working out and killing time, he climbs back in his pod. Megan finds Theo in the lab with the

He announces that he is going to teach the female Abby to communicate with them. He gets a snack to train the Abby with and starts teaching her “yes” and “no” with flashcards. Ethan is certain that the female Abby is the leader, and he wants to be able to get information from her. It’s 2054, and CJ wakes up from his pod again. He seems to be losing touch with reality and talking to himself. He heads outside and meets someone in the woods named Griffin, he’s shocked to see another human. They head to the creek to go fishing together. But, CJ notices something strange about his new friend. CJ waits until Griffin is sleeping and tries to sneak back to the pod. Griffin wakes up and begs him to take him with him. They get
It’s 2054, and CJ wakes up from his pod again. He seems to be losing touch with reality and talking to himself. He heads outside and meets someone in the woods named Griffin, he’s shocked to see another human. They head to the creek to go fishing together. But, CJ notices something strange about his new friend. CJ waits until Griffin is sleeping and tries to sneak back to the pod. Griffin wakes up and begs him to take him with him. They get into a scuffle and CJ snaps Griffin’s neck and kills him, then runs back to the pod. Megan and Theo are still hard at work trying to train the female Abby. Megan is skeptical that they are making any progress, but Theo can tell that the Abby has empathy and an intelligent brain, she can be trained to communicate with them. He tells Megan that they don’t have a choice – the Abbes strongly

They chat about all of the things he misses – like the smell f summer and gardening with her. CJ reveals to Eileen that he is having second thoughts about the pods, he thinks it is cheating and it is not right. Eileen points out that it’s his job, and right now he has the power to change the world and make it whatever he wants it to be.
Adam barges in to the lab and runs to the cage where the female Abby is being held. He screams at Megan and Theo that they need to release her and give her back to the Abbies. She’s their leader, and it is only a matter of time before they break through the walls to get her back. Adam is frantic, he says that they have made a huge mistake, and the Abbies vastly outnumber them. It is 4014, CJ wakes up from his pod with a little pep in his step – the big day has finally arrived, thousands of years have passed and he can open the pods and let everyone else out. Dr. Jenkins wakes up and is thrilled to step outside and breathe the fresh air. Dr Jenkins and CJ spot an Abby in the woods. Jenkins says that he planned for this, they just have to drive the mutated humans off from the settlement and put up a fence. CJ obviously doesn’t think it’s a great idea to drive them off their land, but Dr. Jenkins won’t hear it.
It is 4014, CJ wakes up from his pod with a little pep in his step – the big day has finally arrived, thousands of years have passed and he can open the pods and let everyone else out. Dr. Jenkins wakes up and is thrilled to step outside and breathe the fresh air. Dr Jenkins and CJ spot an Abby in the woods. In the lab, Kerry and Jason arrive, they bicker back and forth with Adam and Megan about whether or not they should release the Abby leader. Now, there are over 1000 Abbies surrounding the wall – they are preparing for battle. Finally, Theo shouts at them all to shut-up. He tells them that they aren’t just observing the Abbies, the Abby leader is sitting in her cage and observing them. Sure enough, she is sitting in her cage and hanging on to their every word. It’s 4016, there is a festival in the town square, they are getting ready to wake up Group A. Megan harps on CJ and tries to get him to enjoy himself and come meet the group. He grumbles that what they did wasn’t right, and they stole those people out of their habitats, he’s obviously not in the mood to celebrate.

In the lab Theo is trying hard to introduce Jason to the Abby leader as their leader, she seems to be using the flashcards and catching on. Jason storms off and says this is a waste of time. Theo things that they are making progress and the leader thinks that they are friends. He decides to do an experiment and lets one of the other Abbies out of their cage to prove that she is in charge of them and will tell them to stand down. Jason throws a fit and says the experiment is done – he proceeds to shoot all of the Abbies that they have in cages. Theo tackles him and takes his gun before he is able to kill the female leader that he had been training. Kerry convinces Jason not to kill the remaining Abby and they leave the lab.

Megan and Theo are left alone in the lab, she gets emotional and tells Theo that she refuses to except the fact that the Abbies are as smart as them, and will eventually replace them. She is taking Jason’s side. Theo says he is leaving to take a shower, he will be back in a few hours, and they will make a decision.
Megan is alone in the lab and she begins to feel faint, she realizes that her wheelchair is surrounded by a huge pool of blood. The female Abby, who she named Margaret is standing over, she cut the vein in her leg and Megan didn’t even feel it because she is paralyzed. She leaves Megan to bleed out and runs out of the lab.
