Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have been separated for a few months now, and that’s the official reason behind most of Brad’s absence from this year’s awards season, despite the fact that his production company, Plan B, produced Moonlight – this year’s Academy award winner for Best Picture.
So why so shy, Brad? According to previous reports, Brad had missed the Oscars because he was skulking and sculpting – and no, you read that right. Apparently, he was having such a difficult time over his divorce from Angelina Jolie and simply couldn’t bear the spotlight of the Oscars, so he stayed at home and worked on sculpting instead. Keep in mind, he still managed to make it out to the Golden Globes to introduce Moonlight, even though the Golden Globes aren’t nearly as big of a deal as the Oscars.
To give credit where credit is due, nobody thought Moonlight would win Best Picture at the Oscars, even though it was a shoo-in to win Best Drama at the Golden Globes; its toughest competition, La La Land, was nominated and won in a different Category: Best Comedy or Musical. Therefore, it did make more sense for Brad to be making an appearance at the Golden Globes, where he could celebrate a win, as opposed to the Oscars, where it was unlikely Moonlight would pull off an upset.
However, we all know what happened, obviously. Not only did Moonlight pull an upset, but it happened in the most insane, history-making, crazy moment possible. And where was Brad? Well, at home sculpting. And even though sources claim it was because he was ‘sad’, there’s also a high chance that he just wanted to avoid seeing Jennifer Aniston with her husband, Justin Theroux.
Brad had been with Angelina Jolie all these years, and Jennifer Aniston was the sad, single cat lady. But now, Jennifer Aniston is the one with the husband and the stable marriage, and Brad is the one estranged from his former wife and their family. Obviously, had Brad gone to the Oscars, he would have felt some regret when he saw his ex-wife happily married to another man when he was single and depressed – it’s only natural.
Of course, there are also reports that Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are texting again, so maybe he just wanted to avoid getting his teeth knocked in by Justin Theroux. What do you guys think? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
