Taylor Swift’s ex boyfriend Calvin Harris and Katy Perry have recorded a song together. Now many are wondering if it is going to be a diss track aimed toward Taylor. Calvin made the announcement on Twitter when he tweeted that he has a new album coming out this summer and one of his collabs will be with none other than Katy Perry.
This will no doubt upset the Grammy-winning Swift. Calvin was Taylor’s longest relationship, they dated for 15 months and there were even engagement rumors about the couple. But, that changed last June when Taylor dumped Calvin and was seen kissing “Thor” and “The Night Manager” actor, Tom Hiddleston on the beach near her Rhode Island home.
Calvin was so angry after seeing the pictures of Tom and Taylor that he unfollowed his famous ex and deleted all their photos from Instagram. A few days later he held a bizarre Q&A session on his social media where he claimed Taylor cheated with Tom. His song, “Ole” is supposedly about Taylor and Tom’s infidelity.
But nothing can compare to the twitter tantrum he threw when Taylor revealed she was actually the one to write his hit “This Is What You Came For”. Calvin went off on Taylor and accused her of trying to make him look bad before adding that she couldn’t “bury” him like she did Katy, referencing Taylor and Katy’s feud.
Katy and Taylor’s feud supposedly started when Katy hired three of Taylor’s back-up dancers resulting in them abandoning Taylor’s “Red” tour. Taylor wrote the song “Bad Blood” about their falling out and told Rolling Stone that Katy ‘tried to sabotage’ her tour.
Over the past few years Katy has jumped in to throw not too subtle shade Taylor’s way on Twitter, but she’s never openly addressed the feud. When asked a few days ago if there would be a response to “Bad Blood” on her upcoming album, Katy played coy.
We won’t find out until later this summer if the song is Calvin and Katy’s attempt to take Taylor down lyrically, or if it will be a harmless bop that has nothing to do with Taylor at all. One thing is for sure, it is good publicity for Katy. Her lead single, “Chained to the Rhythm” from her upcoming album did worse than expected and her latest song “Bon Appetite” flopped after just a few days.
