Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that a new casting call is causing some concern among fans. According to soap guru Jason47, Days is searching for a tan Caucasian male to serve as a hand and arm double. It’s led to speculation that the role of Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) will be recast, but there’s probably no need to be alarmed.
First of all, the fact that they’re looking for a hand and arm double is revealing. If they wanted to fully recast the part, they would be looking for…well, a whole person. Instead, it seems likely that Days wants to do their usual “Stefano’s back from the dead” sign.
Perhaps they’ll show his hand with a ring or his baton. Put some Opera music on in the background, add Mascolo’s prerecorded laugh and voila! You’ve got Stefano DiMera. It would be a clever way to include Stefano since his handiwork may be involved in an upcoming storyline.
Since we know Will (Chandler Massey) is returning soon, there’s a good chance Stefano was behind his apparent kidnapping and doppelganger swap. Days of Our Lives spoilers indicate that Kristen (Eileen Davidson) is coming back, too. She may or may not have done Stefano’s dirty work, but she’ll know about it either way.
Days buzz also suggests that we could see an EJ recast. Kristen would definitely be involved in that. Alison Sweeney is reprising her role as Sami, so it makes sense to include EJ in her story. Sami believed EJ was alive during her last stint and she might actually find him this time around. Dr. Rolf (William Utay) is returning, so he may explain how he raised EJ from the dead.
As for Stefano, they won’t have to offer much of an explanation. After Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Shane (Charles Shaughnessy) cooked up their scheme to free Hope (Kristian Alfonso), they discovered a picture of Stefano feeding the pigeons. They couldn’t be certain it was him, but we all know Stefano is tricky. It appears Stefano pulled a switcheroo and faked his death.
Hope may have shot a lookalike or something along those lines. Still, it’s doubtful that Days will tarnish Mascolo’s legacy by letting someone take over the role. Fans would freak! As DOOL’s new head writer, Ron Carlivati wouldn’t want to anger viewers like that. He’s doing everything he can to please loyal Days of Our Lives supporters.
In other words, it sounds like we won’t see a full-blown Stefano recast. The late Joseph Mascolo is simply irreplaceable! A hand and arm double would work just as well without getting anyone too riled. We’ll give you updates as other DOOL news comes in.
