Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that Will Horton (Chandler Massey) is on his way back to Salem. Will’s new scenes will air beginning in September. Now that we have confirmation on this exciting news, we can start thinking about what Will’s storyline might entail.
It’s common for characters to return from the dead on Days of Our Lives. When fan favorites are killed off, most DOOL watchers assume they’ll be back sooner or later. That’s especially true for a ground-breaking legacy character like Will. Many viewers were outraged when the show chose to get rid of Will with a brutal onscreen murder.
Of course, the problem started well before that. Will’s character was tarnished through a cheating scandal and a blackmail plot, but Days can fix all of that if they want. Let’s consider the facts. After Sami (Alison Sweeney) was offered a movie deal, Will headed to Los Angeles to work on the screenplay.
Will mostly ignored Sonny (Freddie Smith) while he was out of town. When he was eventually fired, Will came home and hooked up with Paul (Christopher Sean). He also admitted that he cheated on Sonny out in LA. Will even tried to blackmail Paul’s mom, Tori, in an effort to get the competition out of Salem.
Sonny agreed to give marriage counseling a shot, but Will tried to bribe their therapist. Obviously, Will’s character was completely trashed before he was killed off. How can Days undo the damage? Revealing that it was a doppelganger would do the trick. A lookalike scenario would certainly explain Will’s atrocious behavior.
Perhaps Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) ordered Will’s kidnapping while he was in Los Angeles. When “Will” returned to Salem, maybe that wasn’t Will at all. Stefano could’ve been trying to make Sami miserable. Targeting the Bradys was a favorite pastime of the twisted DiMera.
Will could’ve been in captivity somewhere for years. If the switch happened in LA, it would eliminate the cheating and pretty much restore Will to his former glory. Since Paul is a such a sweet guy, we need to level the playing field. However, Sonny’s decision will likely be dictated by how long Will hangs around.
If Will is back for a long-term stint, Sonny would undoubtedly choose him. Days of Our Lives probably wouldn’t ignore their history and let their love story go to waste. If Will is only back briefly, then Sonny would go with Paul. Either way, we’ll get some great moments.
