Tonight on NBC their new fantasy drama Emerald City debuts with an all new Friday, February 24, 2017, season 1 episode 9 and we have your Emerald City recap below. On tonight’s Emerald season 1 episode 9 as per the NBC synopsis, “An intense negotiation gets underway when the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) arrives at the Kingdom of Ev. Meanwhile, Dorothy and Lucas find themselves on opposite sides; Jack’s decision may have deadly consequences; and Tip and West solidify their bond.”

Emerald City begins with the Wizard (Vincent D’Onofrio) demanding to see Queen Ev (Stefanie Martini); when the guards tell him to leave, he opens a chest full of gold. He is allowed to bring in only the gold. She is told he doubled his payment, but she says they can use the weapons to save themselves and let his kingdom be destroyed this time and let them take any currency they will need to rebuild it.
She asks what her father would have done, she is told he would keep the payment; and she says they will keep the guns; the wizard is told to go as they don’t need him.
Tip (Jordan Loughran) begs West (Ana Ularu) not to go, explaining how she just saw her family and they loved her; but they were destroyed by a man in the mask of a lion. She remembers every detail of her father’s death and she begs West to not become that. Tip reveals a message from West’s sister, East (Florence Kasumba) telling her to get off her sorry ass and help her. West’s wounds heal instantly, she sits up and hugs Tip.
A soldier is stealing some of the gold saying destruction is coming and his family will need it; before another soldier can do it, the other 5 boxes open with Wizard guards, demanding to know where his queen is; when he doesn’t respond they kill him. The grab the second soldier who reveals where the queen is, she screams as they enter her bed chambers.
Dorothy (Adria Arjona) returns with Toto to the small cabin she had recently stayed in. She orders Toto to keep watch; inside the house Lucas (Oliver Jackson-Cohen) grabs her from behind, but she demands for him to look at her if he is going to k ill her.
West brings Tip to the forest, telling her Glinda wants her because she has the power of a Cardinal witch. Tip says she doesn’t feel like she has any magic; she says she had died and come back to life surely she could summon a stupid spell. West teaches her that you cannot summon magic, it comes to you.
She tells Tip to close her eyes and to explain what she feels. She says hatred for the Wizard and the man who killed her family. She says something I happening and she can’t stop it. Tip turns herself back into a boy and West is upset that this is what the magic found.
Lucas struggles with Dorothy being a part of him. He has his dagger out and she shouts at him to do it, but he can’t. He cries, ordering her to close her eyes and when she doesn’t,, he puts his hands over her face and Toto attacks him. He manages to lock the dog in the house and begins to choke Dorothy, begging her to stop him.
She says she won’t because she doesn’t want him dead. She stabs him in the side, and he releases her. She cries as he lay on top of her. She finds the strength to place him back up as a scarecrow saying he got his wish, she never happened to him. She rides off on her horse with Toto behind her.
The Wizard enters Ev’s chambers, and they debate about why he hasn’t killed her yet. He tells her she is a clever girl, but he smashes the porcelain mask she had one. He teaches her a lesson of making sure she is presentable for her men and to put on a new mask; he leaves her to get ready. Jack (Gerran Howell) runs to Jane for help, saying if the soldiers don’t hand over the guns, they will execute Ev. Jane rushes out of her laboratory.
Tip is enjoying the moments of being a boy, while West tells her to try to be worthy of her sister’s secrets. West says they need supporters to kill the Wizard; West says Ozma was born a girl so she has to return to Emerald City as a girl. West argues that her parents’ death won’t get vengeance just so she can pee standing up? Tip begs her not to choose and runs away.
Dorothy returns to the native village, asking to see Ojo (Olafur Darri Olafsson), he admits he gave her to the witch because she promised him his wife back. She says she wants to stop Glinda permanently and wants to raise the stone warrior giants. He says it is for her, not the wizard.
West catches up to Tip, who says they need to go their separate ways. West says without her there is no army and without Ozma there is no OZ. West agrees to try it her way, as a boy and she thanks her for understanding.
Jane arrives into Ev’s mask room calling out for Frank. He says she was never kind to him, and no matter how much he helped her succeed, she never helped him when it came to OZ; she is the only one left who knows he is a fraud and the only reason he has kept her alive is because her work is valuable.
Frank screams at her that he is the Wizard of OZ after she tells him he has taken everything from her; he can’t take Ev too. He says if she calls him by any other name again, it will be her life she is begging for. Jane returns to tell Jack that he can’t be stopped, he will destroy everything to get the guns. Jack says to make him the gun.
Ojo and Dorothy return to the prison of abject where she promises to release his wife and everyone who is trapped there. Dorothy descends the stairs and realizes all the witches are gone. Dorothy frees the man stuck in the tree, who reveals on the sick and dying remain, the rest were taken. West and Tip are the ones who released all of them; telling them to prepare for war.
Ojo jumps into the mud and holds his wife, as she lay dying. Ojo tells her that Dorothy needs her to raise the Stone Giants. She says she did it before for the wizards and look what happened. She says now that she knows Glinda is going against the Wizard, she can leave this world with hope. She says OZ is magic and magic cannot stop. Dorothy promises if she can help her, she will take the wizard back with her.
Tip is mad that West used her only to revive her witch sisters. She jokes that in some circles she was known as the Wicked Witch of the West. West orders everyone to follow Ozma; they all question since Ozma is a boy and the dagger means nothing as it could have been lost and found. West is called the Wizard’s whore and a traitor and she will speak no more. They fly her into the air with her mouth stitched shut.
Ev and Wizard stand on the parapet, she has no mask on. Wizard holds a gun to Ev’s head; she says make them an example and to never give up their weapons to this man. Ev is shot and drops to the floor below as Jack runs to her. The Wizard is held captive by the soldiers as Jack cries over her body.
Ojo’s wife says her time is too short to bring her home. He tells her their children have their own children now. She asks him to watch over them; he says he will do whatever she wants. The man from inside the tree, knocks Ojo out and beings to scream.
Jack brings Ev to Jane, begging her to fix her like she fixed him. Jack starts smashing things saying he was alive when they found him; he swears Ev is too. Tip is angry with the witches who say West will pay for the sins of her sisters, those that are here and those already gone.
Tip raises her hands and becomes Ozma. West drops to the and Ozma orders them to help their sister up; when they still question her abilities, she shows them all what had happened to her parents, from her view as an infant. They say this magic cannot be tricked and they honor Ozma; and it was West who saved them and fought for them against her sisters and demands them to help her to her feet.
The Wizard has oppressed what is their birthright, it seeps into the magic of the land and no one can take that away from them. She orders them to fight again to Emerald City.
Jack asks how many masks Jane made for her, she said hundreds, including one for love. Jane hugs him saying she tried her best to love him. He asks if she made one for death and he says he was the one who shot her; Jane cuts Ev’s face opening it, revealing that Jack didn’t kill her because she was never real. Jane says she can repair her for him.
Jack says he isn’t real either, that he is only tin. He grabs an axe and says he is going to kill the Wizard; Jane says he can’t the wizard will kill him. Jack says he can’t because he isn’t alive.
The Wizard is brought blindfolded to the edge of a wall, soldiers are set to fire when the ground shakes. A stone giant is approaching OZ, the people are running as the Wizard looks down seeing the giant following Dorothy and Toto.
