General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the big confession Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) made on Wednesday’s GH episode was bogus. It seems that it’s not Anna that came clean to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) but her twin sister Alexandra “Alex” Devane (Finola Hughes).
There’s lots of evidence pointing to the confessor at Wyndemere being Alex, not Anna. First, you may have noticed that Anna didn’t seem quite herself. Her normally blunt hair style was strangely curly but that wasn’t all. Anna is normally in slacks and mostly solid colors but she was in a floral skirt.
Also on Wednesday, Anna’s makeup looked different and she had a very distinctive ring on her right hand that has not been shown on Anna before. Anna is pretty minimal on jewelry and that’s a large gold ring. Plus, Anna’s story she told Valentin was not very believable for a number of reasons.
Anna said she went to see a WSB specialist and found out Cesar Faison (Anders Hove) hypnotized her into following orders and stealing info for the DVX cartel. While it is in line with General Hospital history that Faison is a skilled hypnotist, Anna has been trying to recover memories for a long time.
Anna met with Dr Andre Maddox (Anthony Montgomery) a couple of times to try hypnosis and nothing broke through – yet Anna left town for a day and suddenly she’s got back all of her memories in vivid detail. It seems very strange. What seems more likely is the twin twist with Alex.
Alex was working under her fake mom Charlotte Devane’s orders on All My Children. Charlotte worked with a mystery spy ring – it would be very easy for General Hospital writers to make that spy ring part of the DVX cartel. And if Alex was the one that seduced Valentin, that makes much more sense.
Anna was not attracted to hunchback stuttering Valentin yet when she described their night of passion, it was very affectionate. Perhaps Alex felt bad for the man she tricked so she gave him a night of pity sex and also warned him about the hit her twin Anna had taken out on him.
This whole plot is pretty shifty as the writers struggle to make room for Valentin in Anna’s past without throwing everything in her life and more recent history awry. General Hospital spoilers say it makes much more sense for Alex to have been the one that was in bed with Valentin and broke his heart.
Anna rejected Valentin but was never cruel to him. But taking out a kill order, sleeping with Valentin and then walking away was very cruel and not much like Anna. It seems much more likely that both sisters were interacting with Valentin and he couldn’t tell them apart.
General Hospital spoilers explain why Alex would show up in Port Charles to make this confession to Valentin? Remember Anna had Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) reach out to Faison for information. That alerted Faison to the fact that Anna was trying to reconcile events in her past and he’s covering his tracks.
Faison could have made Alex go to Port Charles while Anna was out of town and pretend she was Valentin’s crush and make the fake confession so the matter would die down. What remains to be seen is if the real Anna shows up oblivious to the interaction with Valentin.
