General Hospital Spoilers: Another GH Writing Shakeup – Chuck Pratt Emerges as Head Writer Candidate

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that more writing team shakeups could be in the works. Jean Passanante, one of GH’s co-head writers, will be retiring soon. Could Passanante’s writing partner, Shelly Altman, also be on her way out as GH buzz indicates? It’s possible that Altman will be fired or demoted as the show heads in a new direction and tries to recover ratings.

GH fans know the drill when it comes to writers. They typically arrive with fanfare and flop with a thud. It’s common for soap scribes to get kicked to the curb at some point. General Hospital and other daytime dramas are fast-paced shows that require plenty of content year-round. It’s undoubtedly easy for writers to burn out and let the writing slip after a while.

That’s why soaps like to bring in a fresh perspective periodically. It can rejuvenate the show and get fans to tune in again. Curiosity alone is sometimes enough to secure a ratings boost. If the writing continues to be exemplary, viewers will stick around. That’s always the goal.

If Altman follows Passanante out the door, who could emerge as General Hospital’s new head writer? One option is Charles “Chuck” Pratt, Jr. He was most likely fired from The Young and the Restless for being a bit too wild. They don’t like to go crazy over there, but he Pratt might be the perfect fit for GH.

Fans are always asking for more love in the afternoon and strong family connections. Those things are great, but General Hospital has to balance out the lighter fare with some excitement. They need to keep the ratings up and that means including explosive secrets, extreme danger and serious conflict – and Chuck Pratt is the master at this style.

Pratt knows how to bring the drama. His material can sometimes head into ridiculous territory, but it’s always full of surprises. General Hospital viewers would undoubtedly get plenty of cliffhangers to enjoy and mysteries to solve. That’s certainly how it went daily at Y&R.

Would there be complaints with Pratt? You bet. That’s true with any soap writer. It’s hard to please everyone, but the ratings are really what matters to the network. People can gripe all they want as long as they’re watching and the show thrives.

Perhaps Pratt deserves a chance to see what he can do with Port Charles. Do you think Pratt would be a good replacement for Shelly Altman if she’s fired or chooses to leave? We’ll give you updates as other news comes in. Stay tuned GH and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest General Hospital spoilers, updates and news.
