General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that some changes might be coming to Ava’s (Maura West) character. It seems that the writers are attempting a redemption story which began with Ava being badly burned in the fire that she caused. However, is forgiveness and redemption even possible considering everything she has done?
For those that don’t know Ava’s complete history, redemption might seem likely. All the soaps are doing it, turning villains into heroes. However, GH spoilers confirm that it would be next to impossible to make the residents of Port Charles (and many fans) forgive Ava.
The exception could be if several critical things happen. If the writers want to succeed at this, the timing must be right and everything needs to mesh together at around the same time. That way, it will have the optimal effect.
Ava Helped Save Steve Burton’s Jason
General Hospital spoilers teased that someone interesting would help Steve Burton’s character. That individual was of course Ava and as General Hospital spoilers tell us will continue to be this week of October 23. She really put herself in the line of fire to assist him. Considering how tight Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) is with the real Jason, that won’t be unnoticed. It might not be enough to get her forgiven for Morgan’s death. However, it would keep her alive… for the time being.
Mental Illness Could Explain Past Behavior
This is interesting since she was ultimately responsible for Morgan’s death. As fans know, the character was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. When she messed with his medication, he spiraled downward. If she had not done that, he might still be alive today.
When changing a character, sometimes they explain past behavior with a mental illness diagnosis. Franco and his brain tumor would be a prime GH example. For Ava, it wouldn’t be Bipolar. It would be something completely different. TPTB might even create an illness just for her.
It doesn’t excuse what she has done, but it could explain some of it and allow her to become a little less evil.
Griffin Could Be a Key
General Hospital spoilers suggested Griffin (Matt Cohen) and Ava would get together. Well, it has happened, but don’t expect them to go public. Griffin still isn’t sure about his decision. What he doesn’t realize is that he holds the power to Ava’s future.
She is so smitten with him that if he looks away, she will likely want revenge. If she doesn’t attack him, then she will do something horrible to another human being. However, if he gets closer to her, she will want to impress him and put on her best behavior.
It is clear by seeing how Ava looks at Griffin that her feelings are deep and probably genuine. However, this might create the perfect storm instead of the ideal relationship. As GH fans know, things could swing either way right now.
With Ava, anything is possible. However, it seems that the General Hospital soap writers are trying to humanize villains and make them multi-dimensional. What will the future be for Maura West’s character? Any single one of these elements won’t make her likable. However, all of them put together and we might be seeing a brand-new Ava on GH.
