General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the double Jason drama just got a little more interesting. Steve Burton (ex-Jason) recently revealed that he plans to stick around Port Charles for at least three years. That’s how long his current contract is, but Burton could sign for additional years if the price is right.
Since GH offers Burton many weeks off, he’s pleased with the arrangement. Burton can get back to his old stomping grounds and still spend time with his family in Nashville. It works out well for Burton, but what does this long-term stint mean for Billy Miller (current Jason)?
Having both Burton and Miller around could cost General Hospital a pretty penny. We also have to consider the fact that Miller may feel a bit snubbed. Nevertheless, there’s a good chance they’ll do everything they can to keep Miller on board.
Just look at what happened when William deVry’s (Julian) contract negotiations initially fell through. GH viewers were practically rioting in the streets. A deal was eventually made and things settled down, but it certainly proves how passionate the fans are.
You can bet that the show would face backlash if they dropped Miller or let him walk away over a money issue. Miller is quite popular, so it’d be in their best interest to make this work. Kelly Monaco (Sam) has also made her preferred Jason blatantly obvious in interviews. She’s clearly “Team Miller.” Most GH fans have a preference for one or the other, so we can’t blame her for picking a side.
Since Burton has signed on for three years, that seems like more proof that he’ll be the real Jason Morgan. It’s not just a short stint, so that makes a fake-out less likely. It appears Miller’s character will be Jason’s twin, but there are plenty of places to go with that. Miller’s character will undoubtedly rock some Drew material.
Sam might choose to stay with Miller’s version and let Burton’s Jason move on with someone new. Watching this trio navigate that could be really intriguing. Bottom line, there’s probably a future for Miller at GH if he wants it. The show would be foolish to let the well-liked actor slip through their fingers.
