General Hospital (GH) spoilers claims an abundance of riches is what General Hospital fans are looking forward to once Steve Burton (ex Dylan McAvoy, The Young and the Restless) returns to the show that made him a soap icon. And so, too, are the writers who are practically giddy with glee at the prospect of having “two Jasons” to write for.
The popular superstar left his breakout role in 2012, and some GH fans have never gotten over the heartache of losing their original “Stone Cold.” Of course much of the pain was eased was Billy Miller (ex Billy Abbott) brought Jason back to Port Charles in 2014. This Jason was initially unrecognizable, having undergone a nip and tuck here and there in the intervening years.
But soon Sam (Kelly Monaco) and Jason were reunited and all was right with the world. Um, wait a minute, stop the presses! As loyal soap fans know, bliss is never a permanent fixture on daytime dramas. And in typical soapy fashion, there’s a huge karmic earthquake about to hit JaSam.
Luckily there are two powerful, veteran soap writers at the helm, and they are more than prepared to tackle having two Jason’s in town. In fact, they’re as delighted as the fans are.
In an interview with Soaps in Depth, Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante spilled that they have begun the creative process of crafting a potent entrance story for Burton. How did the two co-head writers react to news of Burton’s return to GH?
“We are just thrilled that he will be back and we believe we will reintegrate him in a way that should satisfy the audience,” explained Altman.
As an aside note that Jean Passanante announced that GH writer Chris Van Etten has been chosen to replace her as Co-head writer with Shelly Altman.
But don’t look for any clues just yet as to how the talented scribes will spin this fascinating story. “It’s sort of a great puzzle that requires figuring out,” Passanante teased.
What viewers can definitely look forward to is a well-crafted, exhilarating story that should be one for the ages. “We know how important Steve is to the viewers,” said Passanante, promising that they will “get the most out of his return,” as possible. we at CDL can’t wait!
