General Hospital (GH) spoilers for upcoming weeks reveal Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) is haunted by Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers) and what she made him do while he was her captive. It’s already been established that the timeline for Jason’s past has been changed, and now we find out why.
Under Ron Carlivati’s writing regime, Jason was shot, frozen, thawed and ran off. But in late 2015, not too longer after Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante (Jelly) took the reins at General Hospital, they began tinkering with the timeline. Jason even asked Jake Webber (then James Nigbor) about their time together.
Obviously, the Jelly writing team have been planning this storyline for more than a year but a few hiccups got in the way, primarily that of losing Tyler Christopher to a contract dispute which took Nikolas Cassadine out of the story at a pivotal point.
With Jason and Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) on Cassadine Island, it was prime time to reveal all, but then Tyler was cut and everything was thrown into chaos so the General Hospital plot was flipped to Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) and a JaSam pregnancy.
But with baby Scout safely born, Jelly is writing some closure for General Hospital fans to deal with Jake and Jason’s past with Helena. Now it’s become clear that Jason was the element in a couple of Jake’s drawings – the scarecrow and the intimidating looking cell door with bars.
Jason was Helena’s enforcer and when he wasn’t running amok doing foul deeds for her, it seems that he was kept locked away like the boogie man. When Jake was taken from his family, he thought Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) was his dad, not Jason.
So, all that time, General Hospital spoilers reveal that Jake was terrified of Jason and his thoughts were on his parents Lucky and Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst). Then Jake was liberated by Lucky, whom he still thought was his father. Then there’s the twist where Jake finds out Jason is his father.
Jason had a new face but then Liz and Sam have photos of old Jason sitting around the house. That’s the face that Jake would have known on Cassadine Island – that of Steve Burton. Jason’s facial reconstruction didn’t happen until Jason got away from Helena.
General Hospital buzz is that although Jake is still a pretty young kid, he could easily figure out the guy from the family photos that terrified him on Cassadine Island is now the person he’s told is his father Jason. It’s no wonder Jake is cracking up and having night terrors where he’s sleep-drawing.
On this week’s new GH episodes (April 24-28), Liz will tell Jason the theory that Jake might be scared of him and Jason doesn’t want to believe it but then he starts to recover memories of the awful things he did for Helena. Jason will also remember Jake witnessing some of his horrible acts – and Jason is stunned and saddened.
Now that Jason’s brain is mostly back to rights, he’s a better man than he was when he was Stone Cold, a violent mob enforcer or killing for Helena, but how to explain all this to Jake? Jason will recover more and more memories even though Helena told him he wouldn’t.
So was that the secret Helena told Jake to never forget and never tell – that his father was her pet killer? Jason isn’t to blame for his actions but that doesn’t change anything for terrified Jake.
