General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that more cast cuts are in the works. It looks like the ABC soap could deliver a real bloodbath as reports of another major character leaving are surfacing every day! Rebecca Budig was fired from her role as Hayden, but other dismissals may happen as well according to soap mavens like Jamey Giddens. Who else will be on the chopping block?
There’s been a lot of buzz about big departures lately. Since the younger newbies come at a cheaper rate, some of them may be safe for the time being. General Hospital might be hoping to drop pricier cast members to keep from breaking the bank. Tough choices are necessary when you’re gearing up for a major overhaul.
Could Michelle Stafford (Nina) be on her way out? Change is certainly in the air, so you never know what news will break next! Some viewers have also been wondering if Anthony Montgomery (Andre) might get the boot. We already have Kevin (Jon Lindstrom) to serve as a psychiatrist.
Of course, we could see some General Hospital stars choose to step away from their current roles. Michael Easton’s (Finn) fate is up in the air. Before Budig’s exit was announced, there were rumblings that Easton wanted out. Later, there was some buzz about Easton potentially deciding to stick around.
Now it seems we’re back to Easton leaning toward a departure. Some inside sources on social media suggest that Finn may indeed be leaving Port Charles. Perhaps Easton’s decision to exit influenced General Hospital’s choice to cut Budig.
William deVry (Julian) is probably exiting, too. It appears contract negotiations have basically shut down at this point. Unless GH can work something out at the last minute, Julian will be moving on. This loss is crushing for many General Hospital watchers!
Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) is another cast member who may or may not remain on canvas. Word has it that Zamprogna is undecided about whether he should stay or go. It’s possible that GH will come up with enough cash to keep him around, but there are no guarantees.
After all, it’s obvious that TPTB at GH trying to find extra money for some stunt casting. That’s likely the main reason for Budig’s firing and any other exits that we may hear about soon. Billy Miller might be heading for the exit door as Steve Burton (ex-Jason) returns to the ABC soap. There is no way that two Jasons will remain on GH for long and Burton made it clear on Facebook that he in Port Charles for a long stay. We could see additional familiar faces pop up later, so more departures may be looming.
It’s clear that General Hospital is pulling out all the stops for this revamp. Maybe they feel it’s necessary since other daytime dramas are rolling out huge returns and hot plots. The Bold and the Beautiful just shocked the soap world by bringing back crazy Sheila (Kimberlin Brown).
Days of Our Lives is also planning some bombshells. Eileen Davidson (Kristen), Chandler Massey (Will) and Alison Sweeney (Sami) are all returning to the NBC soap. Ron Carlivati, GH’s former head writer, also took over at DOOL. He’s credited with saving General Hospital during desperate times.
Now Days is hoping that Carlivati can inject some life into Salem. Since Carlivati’s new material will begin airing over there on July 19, it could have GH in panic mode. They definitely want to avoid slipping in the ratings.
The competition could get fierce, so General Hospital had better pack a punch! We’ll give you updates as other details emerge. Stay tuned to the ABC soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest General Hospital spoilers, updates and news.
