General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Morgan Corinthos might be back in Port Charles soon but it won’t be Bryan Craig. We’ve posted updates here about Bryan’s blossoming movie career and it seems that he’s way too busy to come back to the ABC soap. A new actor has been spotted at the Prospect Park studios auditioning and it might be that he’s the new Morgan if a recast is in the works.
Because of current plot lines, Morgan’s return would be a good thing right now given all the Corinthos and Jerome drama. The actor that was spotted at Prospect Park studios auditioning is Jake Mast. He’s 25, is new to acting, and is a total hottie. Jake has down a few short films and is primarily a model. He’s the same age as Bryan Craig, both are 25, and has the perfect look to play a Morgan recast.
Since there are long-term General Hospital spoilers that Ava Jerome (Maura West) won’t go to jail for the pill swapping, that means something needs to happen to keep her out of trouble. Morgan dead means she can be charged with murder. If Morgan’s alive, then there’s no harm, no foul, and she can avoid jail without the ABC soap having to write a convoluted story to explain it.
While Jake Mast might have been there reading for a bit part, he also might have been there for a big role like Morgan’s recast. The upside to casting an unknown is that he’ll be cheaper to hire – and Frank Valentini is the master of keeping GH on budget. Plus, hiring an unknown also means that General Hospital is more likely to be able to keep him for longer.
Once Bryan Craig blew up big and won multiple Daytime Emmys for playing Morgan, it was easier for him to transition to a movie career. General Hospital might want to avoid that trap again by starting with an acting newbie. Jake Mast is certainly handsome enough to play the part and he bears a passing resemblance to Bryan so GH could explain that his looks changed a little because of the explosion and fire.
There have been reports recently about surprise recasts coming to GH, so perhaps it’s a new Morgan that we’ll see if Jake Mast lands the GH role. When the actor posted a pic of himself near the General Hospital marquee, he captioned his Instagram shot with “Knocked on a new door today… And I’m going to keep knocking til someone lets me in.” Jake hashtagged it General Hospital and Contract.
