General Hospital Spoilers: Steve Burton Reveals Why He Left The Young and the Restless, Dishes on GH Comeback and Jason Battle

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Steve Burton’s (ex-Jason Morgan) return will continue to pack a punch. Many GH fans are glad to have Burton back, but some Y&R viewers might be missing him over on The Young and the Restless. Burton’s four-year run as Dylan McAvoy had to come to an end and there was a good reason why.

In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest, Burton opened up about some difficulties he faced at the CBS soap. He was quick to point out that it never got contentious, but location became a problem that was tough to work around. Burton lives with his family in Nashville, so he has to fly back and forth when he shoots a soap in Los Angeles.

“With Y&R, they were very generous with the schedule when I first started,” Burton said. He added that he was grateful, but production still had to tell a story. “When you’re working around a guy or you can’t work him on a certain day, it becomes a thorn in the side of people. That’s just the bottom line.”

Burton ultimately chose to step away from the role of Dylan and take a break from the constant flights. Now he’s gearing up for a long stint on General Hospital, so they’re apparently willing to work with him on his travel dilemma. Since the competition is heating up among all four soaps, it was in GH’s best interest to make this happen.

Of course, Burton’s comeback comes with complications. Billy Miller took over for Burton after his departure and has won over plenty of fans with his portrayal. However, Burton is also beloved as classic Jason. You’d think there might be a rivalry behind the scenes, but Burton claims there’s no beef.

“I played the character for a long time and I created the character, but if you decide to leave, they can go do what they want,” Burton said. “You want to tell a story, so you’re going to bring somebody else on. People want there to be drama with Billy and me, but there just isn’t!”

That’s great news, but some GH viewers haven’t been quite as civil. Social media wars are still underway about who should be the real Jason. Fortunately, the loser of this battle can be Drew. Jason’s twin is better than nothing!

Burton’s version seems poised to be the real deal, but General Hospital spoilers say more twists are in store. We’ll give you updates as other GH details emerge. Stick with the ABC soap and don’t forget to check CDL often for the latest General Hospital spoilers, updates and news.
