General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that after months of speculation and a long waiting game, we have confirmation on Tamara Braun’s (ex-Carly) new role. As expected, Braun will be playing Dr. Kim Nero. Most of us probably knew that by now, but it feels good say it definitively. Braun is Kim and that’s that!
Now that the identity of Braun’s character is set in stone, we can concentrate on Kim’s many secrets. She’ll be full of surprises during her upcoming run. Oscar’s (Garren Stitt) mom tends to keep everything buried, but some twin-related events will force her to confront her past.
Likewise, Jason (Billy Miller) and Patient Six (Steve Burton) may have to open their minds a little. They’ll continue to believe they’re the real Jason Morgan, but Kim’s revelations could make them more committed to finding the truth. Oscar needs a father, so it’s time to start figuring this mess out.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Braun talked about her GH history and why this was the right moment for a comeback. You’re probably wondering what Braun thought about the Carly (Laura Wright) situation. How would she have felt about taking back that role?
Braun said, “It would be wrong! Laura’s wonderful. She is Carly; I was Carly once upon a time and I loved her, but she is no longer mine.” She also mentioned that Wright has been rocking this role for 12 years, so she certainly respects that.
Braun has actually been offered other roles on General Hospital since her departure, but she suggested that none of them were quite right. That is, of course, until mysterious Kim came along. She got some advice from a soap-loving friend and decided that viewers don’t always care which part you play. They just like to see their favorite stars and appreciate their great work.
After mulling it over, Braun decided she was in. “Let’s try a new chapter and see how it goes,” Braun said. She added that she’s really excited about bringing Kim to life and giving fans something a different.
