Gwyneth Paltrow Launching GOOP Magazine With Anna Wintour – Destined To Bomb?

Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP may have started out as Gwyneth’s own personal lifestyle brand, but according to new reports, it’s been set as the stage for Gwyneth and Anna Wintour to create a new magazine together. Prepare for the new and improved GOOP, coming to all airports and magazine stores near you.

According to confirmed reports, Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP is partnering with the world-famous Conde Nast, and in essence Anna Wintour, to expand GOOP’s global reach. Conde Nast will reportedly co-produce a ‘quarterly special print of GOOP’ that will first hit newsstands in September.

However, in contrast to letting Gwyneth steamroll diet recipe after diet recipe into each issue of GOOP, Conde Nast will actually work with her in curating digital and social content for each issue. While this new collaborative magazine will still be titled Goop, it will feature, “a steady stream of coproduced, co-branded digital content that will be distributed across select Condé Nast titles’ web sites, goop.com and the brand’s social channels.”

Goop also released a statement, claiming, “[The content will be] original and produced by Goop, while the creative is an artistic collaboration between Goop and Condé Nast.” The central theme will continue to be lifestyle and wellness, with focus on cooking and recipes, health, fitness, design, style, and other lifestyle topics that Gwyneth had focused in her original Goop iteration – though with perhaps slightly less focus on cooking recipes.

With the closure of Self Magazine last year, Conde Nast has felt a big gap in their health and wellness offerings and likely thought snatching up Goop would provide a perfect solution to filling that gap. However, unlike Self, Goop does come with a lot of in-built baggage, a significant portion of that which is associated with Gwyneth Paltrow herself.

Unlike Self , which was a fairly blank slate for the general audience – most people, especially those interested in wellness & lifestyle are well aware of Goop, and seem to either really love it or really hate it. Conde Nast is likely hoping that more people tilt towards love than hate, but we’ll only really be able to know once the sales figures for this new Conde Nast version of Goop begin coming out.
