The team needed to rebuild their numbers. They had lost Kelly who left them to run his own team in San Francisco however the woman they had wanted to add to their team hadn’t wanted them. But Tani Rey said that Five-0 could find others that were more qualified than she was. Tani had reminded McGarrett and Danny that she punched out her instructor at the academy, cheated on the written test, and that no one in HPD would want her around. So Tani didn’t want to join an institution that didn’t fully want her.
However, there were a couple of other skeletons still in Tani’s closet. She has a younger brother that somehow gets his hands on things that she knew he couldn’t afford. So Tani had a thief for a brother and she rather not bring him around certain people that could arrest him yet Five-0 had really needed her help. They knew something was going on with this hacker guy called “Mizchief” and what they hadn’t expected was that Mizchief would have an agenda. His real name as it turns out was Aaron Wright and his brother had once kidnapped Lou’s daughter.
So Aaron had wanted some payback and he didn’t care if the world burned down because of it. The hacker had hacked the prison and released Duclair from prison without anyone needing to get hurt, but Duclair was dangerous and trying to recapture wasn’t the worse thing Aaron did. Aaron had also hacked Five-0’s headquarters as a way to taunt them and he did that throughout the day by leaving them misleading clues. Yet, it wasn’t long before Five-0 had gotten the call about a fire that killed someone.
That someone turned out to be Randy Tao’s second-in-command and the fire happened in one of his drug dens. But the fires continued. Next it was Randy himself that had gotten set on fire and he had been murdered alongside his two sons. So the guys didn’t know what was going on and the first hint they got of Duclair had been when he helped them find Aaron. Duclair had found the hacker first and he was going to set the other man on fire though Tani had gotten there and had tried to tack the arsonist on by herself.
Tani had apparently changed her mind about joining Five-O. Though she forgot to tell the guys that she had changed her mind and had simply gone out in the field by herself. So she saved Aaron’s life and had taken on Duclair however he was beating her pretty badly when reinforcements showed up and so she could have stepped away right then. Except she chose to just keep going and even wanted to help track Duclair when they lost him in the woods. And so Tani later proved to be a female version of McGarrett.
Tani didn’t know when to give up for her own good and so that gave Danny quite a chuckle because he was the first one to notice the comparisons. However, Lou thought Tani should turn back. He didn’t know her or how capable she would be in the field and therefore he thought she had gone far enough. So it was like Lou speaking into the wind because McGarrett merely ignored everything he said and gave Tani a weapon so that she could help them search the woods Duclair, but Duclair had later started a fire in the woods that he hoped would give him enough cover to escape and that put the whole team in jeopardy.
They couldn’t turn back until they got him and that meant they had to go deeper into the fire. But they McGarrett ran into Duclair first and had gotten into a one on one fight that hadn’t wanted his friends to help him with. They had found the two battling it out and McGarrett told them guns down because he had it. So everyone did that except for Tani. Tani shot Duclair in the leg thereby ending the fight and she told them that they had to go while they still could. And so she was the only one that was thinking about escaping the fire, yet by time they got Duclair, it had been too late.
The fire had grown out of control and eventually they had all been forced to seek shelter at a cabin. Yet, their comms weren’t working and so McGarrett volunteered to go find help. He said he knew to move down wind and that it wouldn’t be a problem for him though Duclair had been left with the rest of the group and he told them that McGarrett wouldn’t make it. He said that fire would infect McGarrett’s blood stream to the point where he couldn’t breathe anymore. So Lou hit him with a bowel he found just for that and that got Duclair to shut up.
Only Duclair had another reason to stop talking. He had been working on the rope they had used to tie him up and so he made his escape when they weren’t looking. Though while that led to his death, the others had stopped caring and had just focused in on McGarrett. The guys knew that McGarrett would come back and so it didn’t surprise them when he eventually did. He had found a helicopter and had also figured out a way to evacuate them all. So Tani still had a lot to learn because she hadn’t though tying the helicopter to the house would actually work, but that’s McGarrett for you.
He knew how to take chances and somehow make it work. But Danny had still needed to go by Tani’s house to find out if she was still in and she was. She merely needed time to think it through and that wasn’t so bad. The job was very demanding and it wasn’t everyday that they catch a hacker like Aaron. So Lou took joy in his day by introducing his daughter to the brother of the man that kidnaped her because that helped put his daughter at ease. She still had nightmares occasionally and that’s what she needed to feel better.
However, what’s important is that the team is slowly rebuilding itself and that it happened just in time for Danny and McGarrett to start on that restaurant they talked about.
THE END!
