James Hewitt is Prince Harry’s real father according to the new made-for-television BBC movie, ‘King Charles III.’ Even though the claim has never been confirmed, the new drama has stirred up the controversy once more, by hinting that Prince Charles might not be Prince Harry’s real father.
‘King Charles III’ follows the story of Prince Charles and the royal family after Queen Elizabeth’s death. During one scene in the film, Prince Harry’s potential love interest Jess questions the real identity of his father. She asks him, “Is Charles really your dad? Or was it the other one? Cos if Hewlitt [sic] was your dad instead, you would be out the family.”
A lot of critics believe that the BBC might be deliberately bringing up the controversy again for ratings. But many close friends of the royal family say that the movie is doing nothing more than causing Prince Harry unnecessary pain and embarrassment. The last thing he wants to see is his name making the same headlines with James Hewitt over and over again.
If that weren’t enough, Princess Diana’s former butler Paul Burrell has made it no secret that he is absolutely disgusted that the BBC drama would even bring up the claim again. He even said that there’s a good chance that Prince Harry won’t be pleased when he finds out about it, too.
Paul told Britain’s The Mirror, “It’s something that’s been made up. It was just because Harry had red hair, but all the Spencers have red hair. If it ever did come up, Diana just laughed because it is farcical. Now, for Harry’s sake, everyone should put it to rest. He must be sick of it.”
What’s more, James Hewitt himself recently said that he’s not Harry’s father. Back in 2013, James insisted that he and Diana began their affair after Harry was born. But that hasn’t stopped him from cashing in on his Princess Diana affair by talking about it on television talk shows and selling their love letters for a reported $16 million dollars. James Hewitt even admitted that he was deeply depressed following his break up from Princess Diana and even drove to France to try to end his life. His mother ended up stopping him.
‘King Charles III’ will air on the PBS network on Sunday, May 14. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the film. In the meantime, don’t forget to check back with CDL for all the latest news and updates on the royal family right here.
