Kate Middleton is feeling awfully amused by Queen Elizabeth’s wardrobe these days. In fact, a lot of royal observers couldn’t help but notice that the queen wore a hot pink suit only a few days after the Duchess of Cambridge made headlines for wearing a pink Alexander McQueen dress at the Trooping the Color event in London over the weekend.
Queen Elizabeth showed up to Royal Ascot wearing a pink hat and outfit looking very cheerful as she waved to the crowds in the stands. Her Majesty even has a runner, Maths Prize, in the Britannia Stakes. Some punters were surprised to see her in pink as they predicted that she would wear something blue to the event.
According to the Daily Telegraph, punter John Hill told the site, “Over 80 percent of the bets we took on what color hat the Queen would wear on Ladies’ Day were for pink so many punters have got their day off to a flying start before the racing has even begun.”
A lot of people also believe that Queen Elizabeth might be following Kate Middleton by wearing the color of the season: pink. And for the Duchess of Cambridge, seeing the queen wear the same color she did only a few days ago has to be amusing. Sure, the entire world watches what the Duchess wears closely, but she didn’t expect the queen to be a fan of her wardrobe, too.
Then again, it’s doubtful that Queen Elizabeth is paying attention to Kate Middleton’s wardrobe or her style for that matter. She’s got more important things to worry about. The queen wearing pink during the same week that Kate did might just be a pure coincidence. A lot of eyewitnesses say that Her Majesty wore pink because it was a color that was backed by many racegoers and it just happened to be Ladies’ Day, too.
Everything Queen Elizabeth has done over the years has been carefully pre-planned. Nothing she does is accidental or coincidental for that matter. Still, Her Majesty has always been a fashionable and stylish person in her own right. She is, after all, the queen. She would be the last person to follow Kate Middleton’s fashionable footsteps or anyone else’s, for that matter.
