Kate Middleton isn’t interested in doing all of the leg work that’s needed to hire a new person as her new private secretary. Instead, she’s giving the position to someone who is already on her team. There’s a new report that suggests the Duchess of Cambridge wants to make her personal assistant and close friend Sophie Agnew her new right-hand woman.
Apparently, Kate feels so comfortable with Sophie that she’s willing to promote her to private secretary. As many royal observers already know, Kate’s former secretary Rebecca Deacon quit her job last year. Deacon was on the royal’s payroll for five years and was responsible for coordinating all of the Duchess’ public events.
But, now that she’s getting married, she doesn’t want to continue juggling all of Kate Middleton’s affairs, including her public appearances and royal engagements in her schedule.
It looks like Sophie might already be filling in her shoes. Eyewitnesses say that she was spotted accompanying the Duchess to her last three engagements, including to the opening of the musical ‘42nd Street’ in London. So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Rebecca and Sophie’s transfer of power or if Sophie is still working as Kate’s personal assistant.
Of course, a lot of royal critics believe that Kate Middleton might be making a huge mistake by hiring her personal assistant to be her new private secretary. After all, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s PR team has been a mess for years now. In fact, Prince William and Kate Middleton’s entire communications team has been criticized several times in the past for their PR gaffes. One report indicated that Prince William blamed his entire team for all of the couple’s awful headlines.
So does it really make sense for Kate to hire someone who might not be totally qualified for the job? Should she consider hiring a seasoned professionally instead? That’s what a lot of royal critics believe. But, Kate wants to do things her way, regardless of what the outcome might be.
