Princess Eugenie kept her distance from Kate Middleton during a royal reception held at Buckingham Palace on Monday, February 27th. In fact, the two royals steered clear of each other even though they were both there as part of a very special night honoring British and Indian culture. The royal family greeted a long list of high-profile attendees at the event to help kick off the UK-India Year of Culture 2017.
Even though Princess Eugenie was there to mingle with guests, all eyes were on Kate Middleton. The Duchess wore a sparkling metallic and pink silk dress along with accessories made by Indian jeweler Anita Dongre. Everyone wanted their chance to speak to Kate Middleton and Prince William throughout the night, leaving Eugenie once again in the dark.
Royal observers aren’t surprised that Princess Eugenie and Kate Middleton kept their distance at the event. Insiders say that Princess Eugenie is growing more and more frustrated with the fact that Kate Middleton manages to steal the spotlight each and every time she’s with her.
Many even believe that Eugenie might be jealous of the Duchess. After all, Kate is the royal family’s media darling. That might be the reason why Eugenie kept her distance from Kate throughout the night during the reception. Eugenie hates seeing Kate Middleton get the royal treatment wherever she goes while she’s still trying to find her place in the royal family.
Plus, Princess Eugenie and her sister Princess Beatrice want to get all of the media attention and publicity that Kate Middleton gets on a regular basis. In fact, Eugenie is also doing whatever it takes to remind everyone that she is a royal as well. She recently took matters into her own hands by announcing an art auction to help aid disadvantaged children.
She wants to prove to Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family that she can make headlines and generate publicity on her own. That’s why she’s also making more of an effort to attend official receptions and events, even though she’s not a full-time member of the royal family. Eugenie wants everyone to take her seriously once and for all.
