Kate Middleton is once again feuding with Queen Elizabeth over her costly renovations plans. New reports indicate that Kensington Palace is getting a basement expansion ahead of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s move back to London.
Reports say that Kate wants to expand the basement for her royal staff. A planning application sent in by the Historic Royal Palaces says, “The addition of a basement story is required to allow for the accommodation of administration which must necessarily be moved out of rooms leased from the Royal Household in Kensington Palace.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time the Duke and Duchess have made headlines for their costly refurbishment plans. Back in 2015, they spent almost $7 million dollars renovating Apartment 1a at Kensington Palace. It’s no wonder that Queen Elizabeth is once again upset over Kate’s costly plans to expand the basement when she and William already spent so much money on their two-year renovation.
Some even say it seems like Kate Middleton might be stalling her move to London with her renovation plans. Previous reports indicated that Prince William and Kate Middleton aren’t looking forward to their big move and they feel more comfortable keeping their family out of the spotlight at Anmer Hall. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge know that the moment they move back to London, their family life is going to change forever. William and Kate are going to make headlines each and every time they are spotted in public, whether they like it or not.
Then again, William and Kate have no choice but to be in the public eye. It’s part of their job to show the public that they care about their charity work and royal engagements. As much as Kate would rather stay at home with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, Queen Elizabeth is not going to let that happen.
Tell us, do you think Kate Middleton is trying to stall her move to London with her costly renovation plans? Is Queen Elizabeth upset over the cost? So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about Kate’s plans or their move for that matter.
