Kate Middleton has a secret relationship with Princess Diana’s sister, Lady Sarah McCorquodale. Even though Lady Sarah keeps out of the public spotlight, she does share a special connection with the Duchess of Cambridge.
Many royal fans know that Lady Sarah was actually the person responsible for introducing Princess Diana to her future husband, Prince Charles. Lady Sarah actually went on three dates with Prince Charles before realizing that they had very little in common. She even famously said that she wouldn’t marry Charles, regardless of whether or not he were a dustman or the future King of England. After their brief romance ended, Charles then pursued Sarah’s sister, Diana.
Even though Princess Diana and Lady Sarah didn’t live close to one another, they did often see each other during special holidays and family events. At one point, Diana even called Lady Sarah the only person that she can truly trust in her life.
That’s why it’s perhaps no surprise to many royal observers that Lady Sarah now has a close relationship with Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton. After all, if Diana could trust Sarah with her deepest, darkest secrets and feelings, there’s a good chance that the Duchess might feel the same way about her.
And while Kate Middleton and Lady Sarah McCorquodale have never been photographed with each other, they do spend a lot of time with one another behind closed doors. In fact, Prince William and Kate Middleton chose to spend the evening with Lady Sarah during the 16th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death several years ago. What’s more, Lady Sarah was even a guest at their 2011 royal wedding.
For Kate, it’s no wonder that she feels a special connection to someone like Lady Sarah. Considering how distant she usually appears with Camilla Parker-Bowles, Lady Sarah might be the mother-in-law she wishes she had. Plus, Lady Sarah knows just how close Princess Diana was with her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. She also knows that Diana would be very with her sons and their families if she were still here today. That’s why Lady Sarah has quietly stepped in to fill in for her sister.
