Former “Real Housewives of New Jersey” cast member Kathy Wakile is eating some sour grapes now that she has been fired from the show. Kathy is showing her true colors and proving her Cousin Teresa Giudice’s point that she is poison. She did a very revealing interview for a piece about what happens when you separate from “The Real Housewives” franchise.
Kathy spoke to Broadly.Vice.com about her life after leaving Bravo and the “Real Housewives of New Jersey.” Per the website Kathy launched into a lecture about how the word “Housewife” is not accurate in the “Real Housewives” franchise. Kathy told the website she is the definition of a housewife, not the women who are on these shows to promote their products.
Kathy Wakile said “I don’t give a s**t. I’m wearing it for who I am, what makes me comfortable. As you can see, I dressed up for you today. I put makeup on. That’s a big deal. Housewife means a woman who stays at home, a stay-at-home mom—the woman that takes care of everything in the house.” Kathy’s statement is outdated. She is taking the meaning of the show title literally. Clearly Bravo had a more modern idea. It’s just the show title. The actual interaction between the cast is what the audience wants to see. They are not interested in watching someone wash dishes and changing diapers.”
When Kathy was on the show she let everyone know that she was a much better person than her cousin Teresa Giudice. Kathy called Teresa’s father a coward in one of the reunion shows. She immediately apologized to her cousin but Tre was too hurt to fully accept the apology.
In a scene from season five of “Real Housewives of New Jersey” Kathy is sitting at the kitchen table with her sister and her mother. Kathy’s mom has no sympathy for Teresa and her husband Joe Giudice when they are sentenced to prison. Kathy nods her head in agreement with her mom and sister Rosie Pierri. Teresa and Joe knew they had to face the music.
At the same time she expected her family stand by her during this difficult time. Teresa was appalled and crushed that her family, who kept trying to make up with her, said something so nasty on camera. The Giudices plead guilty to bankruptcy and mortgage fraud in 2014. Teresa served her sentence in 2015 and Joe is currently incarcerated at Fort Dix in New Jersey.
Tre tried several times to at least get to a civil spot with Kat. However, when the family went on retreat to repair their broken relationships Kat was left out in the cold. Tre had one on one therapy sessions with the family members but did not make an effort to include Kathy. One has to wonder if Kat and her husband Rich Wakile were invited because of obligation or if Kathy made a stink and insisted on attending the retreat. Kat and Rich participated in the other exercises with the rest of the family. After the incident around her aunt’s kitchen table Tre decided she was done with Kathy and that part of the family.
Kathy is masking her hurt about being fired by lashing out and trashing “Real Housewives of New Jersey.” During season seven (the first season after Teresa came home from prison) Kathy and her sister beg their cousin for alone time with her. They desperately want to make amends now that Teresa is home. Tre doesn’t want to hear it. She said Kathy and Rosie made no attempt to stay in touch while she was away.
It hurt her so much that Tre has hardened her heart to her cousins permanently. She finally does have a brief sit down with Kathy and Rosie but she didn’t do it to make up. Tre told her cousins point blank and very clearly that she did not want anything to do with them. She said stop bothering me because it’s not going to happen. Tre told the women they will always be family but she is cutting them out. She hugs them and then quickly walks away.
Now that Kathy has no contact with Teresa, Bravo had no reason to keep her on the show. Kathy tried in vain to stay relevant by pestering Teresa about making up. Kathy had been demoted to part time cast member after failing to stir up enough interest to keep her as a full time housewife. Her storylines didn’t have a lot of substance. Kathy decides she wants to make money cooking by being a caterer. Rich rents her a commercial kitchen and she is furious. Kat wanted to start slowly. She and Rich talked about how they need to stop spoiling their kids. Yawn.
Outside of being on “Real Housewives of New Jersey” Kathy started hawking her cannoli kits. They didn’t sell very well. She wrote a cook book and it was a flop. Kathy competed on the reality stars edition of the Food Network show “Chopped”. She was eliminated in the first round. She brags how she cooks every day and how great she is. Apparently she is not good enough!
It’s been reported that Kathy was very disappointed with her demotion to part time RHONJ housewife. The truth is Kathy does not have a story line that the audience wants to see. She is also dull on camera. Now Kat is furious that the little bit of fame she had will fade. She now has to face the fact that she doesn’t have what it takes to stay in the public eye.
Kathy is also mad at herself because she is the very thing she hated about others in the “Real Housewives” franchise. Kathy saw an opportunity to create a business and products and have them advertised for free on television. Teresa, on the other hand, continues to be one of the most popular women in the entire “Real Housewives” franchise. Tre is the most popular of the housewives behind NeNe Leakes.
Teresa Guidice is so important to “Real Housewives of New Jersey” that the producers waited for her to come home from prison to shoot season seven. Teresa’s businesses went under when she was convicted of fraud. No one knew if she would recover when she was released from prison. Teresa has make a big comeback. Her loyal fans gave her unwavering support while she was away. Teresa’s book about her life behind bars was a best seller. Katy Wakile is jealous and won’t admit it. She is a victim.
