Kim Kardashian Sued for $100 Million: End of the Kardashian Empire?

Kim Kardashian and her company Kimsaprincess Inc. are being sued for $100 million for ripping off a design for a cell phone case that claims to help a person “take the perfect selfie”. Kim Kardashian has a product called LuMee which is a cell phone case with lights that the reality star claims helps Kim and it’s users take a better selfie. It is an extremely popular product, but according to a rival company, it is a complete rip-off of a product they invented back in 2013.

Snap Light, the company that is suing Kim, has a patent for their cell phone case invention and now they are coming forward to not only sue Kim Kardashian for patent infringement, but they are accusing the reality star of trying to bully their company. The company released a statement saying, “LuMee began a slander campaign by creating doubt in our technological and operational integrity. It’s illegal to try to monopolize the market, but more than that, it’s un-American to do it when you’re being deceptive and unethical the entire time. “

Snap Light also states that it has been hard to compete in the selfie case market due to Kim Kardashian’s ability to advertise her product on social media, where the reality star has 165 million followers between Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Kim Kardashian’s representative released a statement claiming that Kim is standing by her product and is refusing Snap Light’s request to stop selling LuMee cases. The statement claims, “The patent lawsuit filled by Snap Light has no merit, and is just another attempted shakedown. Kim has done absolutely nothing wrong.”

This is of course, not the first time the Kardashian family has been accused of stealing designs from others. Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner have both been accused of ripping off unknown clothing designers and remarketing their designs as their own. Kylie Jenner and sister, Kendall Jenner are currently embroiled in a lawsuit over the fact that the sisters took vintage t-shirts with music icons such as The Doors, Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur, Ozzy Osbourne, to name a few, and painted their initials and faces over the music legends. And just a few weeks ago, Kylie Jenner was accused of stealing the logo for her upcoming reality show, “The Life of Kylie”.

In the past, the Kardashians have never had to answer for seemingly ripping off the ideas of others, mainly because the designers who sue the sisters usually don’t have the money to take the powerful family to court. But Snap Light isn’t backing down, and if their lawsuit is successful, many believe a win for the company could signal the end of the Kardashian empire.
