Lamar Odom’s daughter Destiny is speaking out about his “toxic” marriage to Khloe Kardashian. She’s sharing some of the secrets that went down between them. She wants her father to stay away from the Khloe and the rest of the Kardashian clan. It sounds very much like the Kardashian curse is real.
Destiny Odom spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian. When the two were married, Destiny said that her relationship with Khloe was strained. In the meantime, she tried to make her relationship with her father work.
She doesn’t like how her family has become public fodder since Khloe Kardashian married Lamar Odom. The 17-year-old’s interview will be in the PEOPLE/Entertainment Weekly feature, Surviving A Father’s Addiction: Lamar Odom’s Family Speaks Out. Destiny explained that although her father was a famous NBA player, he never received so much public scrutiny as he did when he was married to Khloe Kardashian. She recalls the time she used to watch him on episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians at 12 years old.
She went from watching the realty show “religiously” to hating the family. Khloe and Lamar’s relationship also threw a wrench in her friendships with her classmates. When news broke of their divorce and Lamar’s addiction, Destiny recalls being hit with cruel comments. Even her own friends would make “snide comments” about her and her family on social media, which she found “humiliating.”
Lamar Odom’s daughter didn’t understand why Khloe Kardashian was there for him after his overdose at the Love Ranch in Nevada. She went on to say that their relationship was “toxic.” Since that near-fatal incident, Destiny says her father is a lot more “open and apologetic” to his family. He assured her that he sought help. She explains that he’s just a “grown man” who’s going to make mistakes at the end of the day.
Looks like Khloe Kardashian is getting the last say on their marriage. On Sunday’s season finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Khloe admits that she “fake-tried” getting pregnant during her marriage with Lamar Odom. She only continued her fertility treatments for Lamar when she knew that having a baby wouldn’t be a good idea. Khloe had to eventually stop them because she knew they had to address the other issues in their relationship.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom’s marriage fell apart after his cheating scandal and drug relapse. That alone was enough for Kardashian to file for divorce in 2013. Their divorce was officially finalized in December 2016. Both Kardashian and Odom have been getting their revenge bodies back. Odom just completed his 30-day drug rehab program.
