One only needs to take a glance at Kate Middleton nowadays before realizing that the royal life is not all that it’s made out to be in movies and television. You don’t just marry a prince and live happily ever after, no matter how many times Disney movies have told you otherwise. Perhaps Kate Middleton thought that that’s what her life would resemble, or perhaps she just didn’t think about all this in her quest to become a princess. However, you know who can learn from Kate’s mistakes? Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s current girlfriend and if the rumors are to be believed, his soon-to-be-wife.
Meghan is still new to the world of being a royal consort, but as far as we know, she hasn’t yet committed to becoming a princess. Yes, we’re hearing that she’s quitting acting, that she’s giving up her role on Suits, that she’s more or less settling into her life as a royal.
However, when you really think about it, you begin to realize that Meghan actually hasn’t spent an uninterrupted length of time with the royal family – living with them, staying with them, and being judged by them. It’s easy to see her giving into the allure of marrying a prince, especially because she and Prince Harry genuinely seem head over heels for each other, but will she actually make the jump?
With that being said, the rumor is that the one thing holding Meghan back from jumping in a full hundred percent is watching what happened to the woman who came before her. Kate Middleton might be married to the crown prince and heir to to England’s throne – and Meghan is only considering marrying the spare – but it’s still a similar lifestyle with similar expectations.
Moreover, watching what happened to Kate’s relationship with Will over the years, and watching Kate wither away into being miserable, lonely, and left all alone by her husband as he runs off to go party with ex-girlfriends and hot models – well, that isn’t going to give Meghan a boost of confidence, is it? No, sir.
However, the big point of differentiation between Meghan and Kate is this: while Kate Middleton’s relationship with Will has always been strained (especially because it’s always been very clear that Kate was William’s second choice), Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are obviously (and visibly) crazy in love with each other. Will that last for the rest of their lives? We don’t know, but at least their marriage would get off to a much better start.
