Pippa Middleton’s wedding to James Matthews was one of the most talked about celeb weddings of the year. Even though Pippa is not technically a member of the royal family, the media certainly treated her nuptials as if it were a royal wedding. While most seemed to compliment the lavish ceremony, one person is not happy about some decisions Pippa made in regards to her wedding planning.
Samantha Markle, the older half sister of Harry’s girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has come forward to slam Pippa over the fact that Meghan was not invited to the church ceremony at St. Mark’s Church. Samantha spoke to Radar Online to say it was in “very poor taste” to not allow Meghan at the church ceremony.
Apparently there was a rule that if a couple is not married, they couldn’t attend the church ceremony together, and since Harry and Meghan are not married or engaged as of yet, she wasn’t given an invite to St. Mark’s. Although some are pointing out that Pippa’s brother, James, was allowed to bring his girlfriend, even though they are not yet married. Meghan was however allowed to attend the reception that was held at the estate of Michael and Carole Middleton, Pippa’s parents.
This doesn’t seem to be good enough for Samantha, who slammed Pippa and called it “pure snobbery” that Pippa didn’t allow Meghan to attend the nuptials with Prince Harry. She was also upset over the fact that Meghan wasn’t included in wedding photos of the happy couple. Samantha claimed that she thinks the late Princess Diana would be “appalled” at the way Harry’s girlfriend was treated.
Being protective of Meghan is a departure for Samantha, who has in the past come forward to speak negatively about her half-sibling, with whom she shares a father. She has even threatened to write a tell-all book about Meghan, and earlier this year she tweeted about her upcoming book, “Maybe when she (Meghan) is more mature and she reads the book, she’ll understand some of it. She won’t like some of it.”
While Meghan has opted to take the high road and not comment about Samantha or her book, some close to Meghan have commented about Samantha’s intentions toward her younger sister. They described her as lying and manipulative and accused her of trying to make money off of the fact that her sister happens to be dating a royal. They also added that the two were not raised together and Samantha barely knows Meghan. In fact, Samantha hasn’t seen Meghan in over 20 years.
Samantha doesn’t shy away from her negative feelings toward Meghan, but she insists that even though the two may not be on great terms, she is still angry on her sister’s behalf over the wedding snub.
Samantha states, “I haven’t always agreed with everything my sister has done, but she’s a victim here.”
