Tonight’s Nashville finale kicks off with Scarlett at Deacon’s house, making breakfast for the girls. Daphne isn’t happy that they are making her go back to school. Deacon is still miserable following Rayna’s death. Maddie’s phone is ringing off the hook – apparently a TV show in NYC has been calling her non-stop, they want her to do an interview.
Deacon and Scarlett head to the office for a meeting with Bucky and Zach Wells. Despite Rayna’s death, Zach wants to get down to business. He wants to release that final album that Rayna was working on with Deacon. Of course, Deacon is not going to let it happen. Later, Zach goes out to dinner with Will, he rants to him about Deacon dragging his feet on the album. If they don’t release it right after Rayna’s death, they will lose sales. Will agrees to try to talk to Deacon.
Scarlett stops by Deacon’s house to check on everyone. While she is there another TV show calls Maddie’s phone. Juliette is shocked that they have been hanging up on national TV shows, she doesn’t understand why no one has gotten Maddie a manager yet after her big performance at the CMA’s. Juliette offers to take Maddie to NYC herself, shockingly Deacon thinks it is a good idea, he knows that Rayna would have wanted Maddie to follow her dreams. And, being in a national TV show is a huge deal.
The next day, Will sits down with Deacon and Bucky. He tries to convince him Deacon to release the album, the company is in the red after buying Wheelin Dealin. Deacon agrees to think about it.
Juliette and Maddie arrive in NYC, and Maddie appears on the Late Show. She woos the crowd, and discusses losing her mom. She also manages to slip in that she is working on an album of her own. After the show wraps, Maddie and Juliette attend a cocktail party backstage and everyone convinces Maddie to sing her mom’s song again.
Deacon, Daphne, and Scarlett watch Maddie’s TV appearance at home on the couch. Afterwards, Deacon heads to the recording room and listens to some of the music that he and Rayna were working on. He finds an old suitcase of Rayna’s full of home videos and her journals.
Daphne is upset, she asks Scarlett why the TV show didn’t ask her to be on it, she sang at the CMA’s too.
Maddie continues her whirlwind TV interviews in NYC. Daphne watches another interview, and Maddie laughs on the TV as she talks about how good things come out of tragedy and she’s grateful for all of the attention she is getting. Daphne storms out of the livingroom, visibly upset over what her sister said. Maddie is going to wish she didn’t put her foot in her mouth, it’s not long before the media goes in to a frenzy over what she said.
Meanwhile, Deacon and Bucky are called to another meeting with Zach Wells. Zach and Deacon wind up in a screaming match over Rayna’s album, and Deacon storms out. Zach is considering pulling his investment out of the company, he tells Bucky that he needs those audio tapes by the end of the week.
Gunnar is getting frustrated because he and Scarlett are supposed to be promoting their album, but Scarlett won’t leave Deacon’s house, Deacon and the girls need her. Maddie calls Scarlett crying hysterically, she’s upset that the news is twisting her interview to make it sound like she is glad that her mom died.
Avery stops by the house to check in on Deacon. He tries to get him to go grab lunch, but Deacon isn’t interested.
Will heads over to Zach’s house to check on him, he’s laying in bed and watching TV. Zach is sick of everyone turning him in to the villain. Zach’s a hot mess, he’s nearly in tears over his fight with Deacon.
Maddie cuts her interview short and returns home. Deacon and Daphne greet her at the door, Deacon tries to comfort Maddie, he reassures her that she didn’t do anything wrong. Maddie cries that she feels like the worst daughter.
Juliette follows Maddie back home from NY, she tells her that she patched things up with the Today Show, and has gotten her another opportunity to be on the show after she bailed on them. Juliette doesn’t want Maddie to blow her one shot. Scarlett and Juliette wind up arguing over whether or not she is pushing Maddie to chase fame.
Bucky, Will, and Gunnar show up at Deacon’s house – they need an answer about Rayna’s album. Deacon is hiding out in his room reading Rayna’s journals again, and he refuses to come out and talk to them.
Juliette sits down with Maddie. She never got to pay Rayna back for all of the times that she helped her career. Juliette knows that Rayna would want her to help Maddie with her career, and she offers to be her official manager.
Maddie is feeling lost, and doesn’t know what she should do, she heads to her sister Daphne’s room and they sit up late singing their mom’s song’s together. Meanwhile, Deacon is still buried in old video clips, recordings, and journals. He breaks down sobbing and has a full-blown meltdown.
Deacon heads downstairs, and is surprised to see Scarlett, Juliette, Avery, and Will in the recording room – they’ve brought all of their equipment and they’ve come to help Deacon finish the albums. With all of their voices combined, plus the tracks that Rayna did lay down before she passed away, they come up with something pretty magical and Deacon is thrilled. Even Maddie and Daphne help on some of the songs.
The next day, Scarlett tells Gunnar that she is ready to do the tour with him. Then she drops a bomb on him and reveals she is pregnant, but she doesn’t know who the father is.
THE END!
