Not Keeping Up With The Kardashians: Ratings Plummet As E! Scrambles To Reinvent Itself

No one seems to be Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Kim Kardashian’s Paris robbery and Kourtney Kardashian’s on-and-off relationship with Scott Disick is not enough to keep viewers interested. Ratings have been plummeting ever since the 13th season premiered in March. What’s the E! Channel going to do since all it plays is episodes of KUWTK throughout the day? The network is scrambling to revamp itself as KUWTK could be very well on its way out.

The Daily Mail reported that viewership for the current season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians is at an all-time low. Ratings continue to dip, ranking around 1.5 million views per episode. There are still too many people keeping up with the Kardashians. But, this is a stark contrast to the 10.5 million viewers who watched one of Kim Kardashian’s many weddings. Kim Kardashian’s wedding to ex-husband Kris Humphries gave E! it’s most-watched day ever, according to Refinery29.

Kim Kardashian is to blame for the dip in ratings. The first part of the season already gave a glimpse into Kim’s new life following the Paris robbery and her social media absence. It was absurd for them to get that story out of the way in the beginning of the season. And, Scott Disick was called out by the family for bringing one of his random model hook-ups to the family’s vacation. But, who cares about Scott Disick anyway? Everyone knows he’s only on the show, so he can continue to get those checks.

There’s a good reason why Keeping Up With the Kardashians is struggling. The show is now in its 13th season. Everyone is tired of the Kardashians/Jenners at this point. They’re everywhere. They’re on our social media feeds. They’re constantly in the news. It’s like these women can’t live without attention for one day. Do they really need their reality show anymore? And when an episode airs, people have an idea of how it will end.

Keeping Up With the Kardashians is a dated concept at this point. Viewers would rather see the drama go down live on Snapchat than to sit through a 60-minute episode. E! is scrambling to find more scripted drama like The Arrangement and The Royals. But, they won’t let go of the Kardashians. E! announced Kylie Jenner is getting her own spin-off, which means we won’t be getting rid of them anytime soon. But, everyone knows that the Kardashian spin-offs don’t do any better.

Kris Jenner is twisting Ryan Seacrest’s arm at this point. She wants to make sure that her family never goes away from the spotlight. Maybe Kylie Jenner is the new star and not the rest of Kardashian/Jenner clan. What are your thoughts, CDL readers? Do you think Keeping Up With the Kardashians should get canned? Do you think E! should revamp its network? In the meanwhile you can keep up with Kim Kardashian news here!
