Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been dating for close to a year now and many expect Harry to pop the question to the “Suits” actress. But, according to a new report by People, maybe a wedding shouldn’t be expected too soon.
Ingrid Seward is a royal insider and biographer and claims Harry doesn’t want to rush things with Meghan and wants her to get used to the life of a royal before they marry. Harry reportedly wants to ease Meghan into the royal life, which can be overwhelming. There are so many rules to learn, it would be hard for anyone to get used to this type of lifestyle. It would especially be overwhelming for an American who isn’t accustomed to the royal way of life.
Seward says of Harry’s desire to ease her into the royal life, “He wants her to acclimatize to it all. It’s such a whole different world to move into, there is so much to get used to.” Perhaps Harry’s need to protect Meghan is due to the fact that his mother, Princess Diana was thrust into the royal life at a young age and was often overwhelmed by both her royal duties and intense media coverage and scrutiny of her life.
Despite Harry’s worries, Meghan seems to be adjusting well to the royal life, at least so far. She and Harry often travel together while he performs his royal duties. She has also met many members of the royal family even attending the reception of Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, and was on hand recently when Harry played in a charity polo match.
According to Seward, Harry, who was often referred to as a ladies’ man in the past, wants to make this relationship work. “He’s really in love with her, but wants to give it his best crack.” It is even being reported that Harry is looking for houses in the English countryside for him and Meghan to move into.
Years ago it would have been considered scandalous for a royal to live with someone outside of marriage, but Meghan spends a lot of time with Harry at Kensington Palace, so people are used to the idea of them living together. And lucky for Meghan, most don’t seem to mind the fact that she is a divorcee.
If Harry and Meghan do in fact marry someday, hopefully they will have better luck than Harry’s parents who had a tumultuous and scandal filled marriage before it ended in a bitter divorce.
