Queen Elizabeth is showing no signs of slowing down, as she enjoyed her very first night out in a long time on Saturday, May 20. The Queen looked like she was in good spirits after she was spotted leaving The Ivy in Covent Garden after enjoying dinner with a group of close friends.
According to reports, Queen Elizabeth attended an invitation-only birthday event with her cousin Prince Michael and David Walliams. She wore a silver dress and shawl for her VIP dinner. Clearly, the Queen enjoyed the good company as she was nothing but smiles when she was photographed leaving the restaurant. The last time the Queen visited The Ivy was during her 80th birthday celebration at the restaurant. She was also last spotted dining at a London restaurant in March of 2016.
While other monarchs are slowing things down, that’s not the case with Queen Elizabeth at all. She’s still making all the executive decisions behind closed doors, still attending as many public appearances as she can and she’s even demonstrated that she can still drive. Plus, Queen Elizabeth is certainly not wasting her time sitting at home.
In comparison, Prince Philip recently announced that he is retiring from performing his royal engagements and public duties. At 95, he simply can’t keep up with his workload like he used to. Even though he’s scheduled to still carry out his scheduled engagements, Prince Philip won’t be accepting any new invitations for visits and public events.
Prince Philip isn’t the only royal slowing down. Reports say that Japan’s Emperor Akihito recently announced his abdication from the throne, citing concerns about his age and health. At 83, Emperor Akihito is looking to step down by the end of December 2018. Reports suggest that he will be replaced by his son, Crown Prince Naruhito.
And while everyone seems to be rather impressed with Queen Elizabeth’s good health and drive to continue ruling the monarchy, if there’s one person that’s worried, it’s her son Prince Charles. He’s been waiting his entire life to become the King of England but at this point, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon.
Queen Elizabeth simply doesn’t want to give up the throne, especially if she’s still feeling this good. Yet, for Prince Charles he’s ready and wiling to take over the monarchy. In the meantime, don’t forget to check back with CDL for all the latest news and updates on the royal family right here.
