Tonight’s season finale of The Bachelor kicks off in Finland – Nick Viall has narrowed his search for love down to the final two, Vanessa Grimaldi and Raven Gates.
Nick Viall’s family has flown in to Finland to meet his final two women. Nicks family is a bit skeptical, after all they already thought their son was getting engaged to Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe, so hopefully the third time’s the charm.
Raven Gates gets to spend time with Nick’s family first. Raven actually was the one girl this season that met Nick’s family a while back. So, there aren’t a lot of formal introductions. Nick’s little sister Bella is a huge fan of Raven, she already went skating with her and Raven cheered her on at her soccer game. Raven gets a chance to sit down with Nick’s parents 1-on-1 and discuss a potential future with Nick, she confesses to Nick’s dad that she told Nick she loved him and she meant it.
Now, it’s time for Vanessa Grimaldi to meet the Viall Family. Vanessa tells them about herself and her life in Canada, then she describes her first date with Nick, and throwing up in the zero gravity plane.
Vanessa sits down with Nick’s mom in private, and they have a tough conversation. Vanessa admits that she is having second thoughts about getting engaged to Nick and she’s afraid they may be rushing in to it. After her awkward chat with Nick’s mom, Vanessa talks with his sister, and continues to say that she is having doubts about starting a life with Nick and having to leave Canada. Vanessa is digging herself a bigger hole. Who meets with their potential fiance’s parents and says she’s not ready to get engaged?
Meanwhile, Nick’s dad is giving him a pep-talk. He’s worried that if Nick chooses Vanessa, it will just be a repeat of his relationships with Kaitlyn Bristowe and Andi Dorfman.
After Nick’s final two get to meet his family, Raven and Vanessa both get a last-chance date with Nick before the final rose ceremony. This is their last chances to say whatever they need to say to Nick and figure out before Nick decides who he will ask to marry him.
Nick Viall meets up with Vanessa Grimaldi for their date first. He surprises her with horseback rides through the snowy mountains of Finland.
They finally reach their destination, a tiny cabin in the middle of the woods on the Arctic circle. Nick leads Vanessa up the stairs, and they’re greeted by the owner of the cabin – Santa Claus. Santa invites Nick and Vanessa inside to warm up by the fire, they chat with Santa Claus about their wishlists this year. Of course, they both want to find love and happiness. Santa is clearly on Team Vanessa, he surprises her with a gift before they leave.
After hanging out with Santa, Nick and Vanessa get down to business and discuss their relationship. Vanessa raves about Nick’s Family and how much fun she had meeting all of them. Their discussion takes a turn for the worse when Nick mentions that he will give the final rose to the woman he has the stronger relationship with. Vanessa is upset, and doubting their relationship, it bothers her that Nick has a connection with Raven too, and she doesn’t want to get proposed to just because Nick likes her a little more.
At the end of the night, Nick Viall does the best that he can to reassure Vanessa. They seem to be in a good place when they say their goodbyes, but Vanessa is full of doubts and an emotional mess – she’s scared that Nick will choose Raven over her.
The next day Nick Viall meets up with Raven Gates for their final date before the last rose ceremony. Nick is feeling a little down after his tough talk with Vanessa the night before, and he’s determined to figure out where his heart is really at.
Nick takes Raven to a pond and surprises her with an afternoon of ice-skating, Nick and Raven’s first 1-on-1 date was at a roller skating rink, so it’s a bit nostalgic. Raven’s thrilled, she is already envisioning a life with Nick and getting engaged to him. She certainly doesn’t have any doubts like her competition Vanessa Grimaldi. Nick on the other hand is having a blast, because Raven isn’t half as complicated or intense as Vanessa.
Nick and Raven warm up at a fire after skating, and they chat about Raven and his family’s conversations together. Nick admits that his family loves Raven, and they had a blast with her. Nick surprises Raven with some Husky puppies, and she is over the moon.
Nick and Raven have a night cap in her cabin before they call it a day. Raven uses the time to profess her love for Nick, and make sure that it’s clear she is ready to get engaged and can see a future with him.
After spending a day with both Raven and Vanessa, Nick still hasn’t decided which woman he will propose to. But, he sits down with Neil Lane to pick out a sparkly engagement ring for whoever the lucky lady turns out to be.
Time is ticking down before the final rose ceremony, Vanessa and Raven begin getting dressed for the big moment. Vanessa is still having doubts, and she is scared that if Nick proposes, he might expect her to leave Canada and she doesn’t want to leave her family. Raven on the other hand is going in to the rose ceremony very confident, and eager to get engaged.
It’s finally time for the moment we have all been waiting for. Raven arrives at the rose ceremony first, and she’s giggling and in good spirits – it’s obvious that she thinks she is getting a happy ending, and an engagement ring. As Raven begins professing her love to Nick and telling him how excited she is to be married to him, Nick is nearly in tears, it’s becoming obvious that he is about to dump her.
Nick explains to Raven that he respects her and has love for her, then he gets choked up and cries that he isn’t actually in love with her and his heart is somewhere else. Raven seems to keep her composure, Nick is more upset about dumping her than she is. He walks Raven to her car and they say their goodbyes.
It’s time for the moment of truth. Vanessa Grimaldi arrives at the final rose ceremony, and Nick Viall is prepared to propose to her, however he’s scared that she may turn him down. Nick explains to Vanessa that he began falling in love with her at the second rose ceremony, and every moment since then he has been falling more and more in love with her. Vanessa shares similar sentiments about falling in love with Nick, she’s the happiest she has ever been she is with him. She thanks Nick for taking another chance on love so that they could find each other.
Nick Viall gets down on one knee and asks Vanessa Grimaldi to marry him, she’s quick to say “yes,” and can’t wait to get the Neil Lane engagement ring on her finger.
THE END!
