The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers tease that Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) will remain conflicted about her feelings for Bill (Don Diamont) and loyalty to Liam (Scott Clifton). She pushed though guilt during the festive Thanksgiving feast at the Forrester family get-together. But ongoing interactions with both men will offer many opportunities to fall, or rise above what happened.
The lead-in to Steffy’s betrayal was classic B&B. The audience was directed toward Liam and Sally’s (Courtney Hope) increasing flirtations through the summer and into the fall, while at the same time being teased by Steffy’s urge to console Dollar Bill.
Viewers knew that Liam’s compulsion to do-good (in his mind) was going to lead to him spilling his guts to Steffy. Yes, he and Sally kissed. But they believed that they were about to be crushed to death. Neither person had crossed any moral lines to that point, so the specific circumstances created what was actually a human reaction, rather than a willful violation.
Liam’s choice to present that information to Steffy was questionable. The manner in which he did so also naturally led to critique. However, once he decided to forge ahead there likely was no way to create a preferred reaction. And what exactly would that have been?
Steffy’s resultant response was impulsive, but also proved to reveal her latent feelings about Bill. When Diamont’s character challenged her about their subsequent shared passion, she surprisingly didn’t deny it.
Bill’s acceptance of Steffy’s request to remain silent about the matter was very telling. It also telegraphed the start of an extended storyline that would seemingly end with Liam learning what happened.
One of the many challenges that will present itself is Bill’s lack of a wife, or a romantic alternative. His statement regarding the unique connection with Steffy indicates that she’s burned a hole in his heart. That’s soul mate territory for the man who now genuinely wants to become a better person.
Meanwhile, Sally appears resigned to Liam’s reunification with his wife. But Miss Spectra did offer her love to him during the building collapse. Viewers would be right to think that Liam may take comfort in Sally’s arms if (when) Steffy’s moral crime is revealed.
B&B is crafting a solid storyline with natural conflict and the element of uncertainty. Liam could literally discover what happened between his wife and father at any moment, as overheard conversations, or unintended discoveries are often seen in daytime. Yet, fans should expect the unexpected as the Christmas season kicks into high gear.
