The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) spoilers tease that another major return is coming up. Most viewers still aren’t over the shock of seeing Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) pop up in town. Now it looks like they’ll have to brace for another blast from the past. General Hospital favorite (Duke Lavery) Ian Buchanan is coming back to B&B as Dr. James Warwick.
TV Insider interviewed Ian Buchanan about his return, which is sure to bring some interesting moments. Naturally, Buchanan was stunned when B&B asked him to reprise his role as this complex psychiatrist. “It’s such a nice, out-of-the-blue surprise,” Buchanan said. “I’d heard Kimberlin was back, but it never entered my head that I’d also be getting a call.”
Luckily, that call indeed came and now James will once again appear on The Bold and the Beautiful. It sounds like James’ storyline is going to be tons of fun. Eric (John McCook) will recruit James for an important task. He’ll hope that the doc can evaluate Sheila and figure out if she’s truly changed.
Of course, James was married to Sheila years ago. You’d think that might influence his judgment of her, but B&B is just going to roll with it. According to Buchanan, Eric will want someone close to the family for this mental health evaluation. He’ll turn to James since he knows Sheila best and can keep all of this under wraps.
Will James discover that Sheila is really reformed? Has this bad girl gone good? It’s tough to believe Sheila is no longer cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, but she might be able to fake some stability. Plus, Sheila could easily manipulate James if there’s still a spark between them.
It’s possible that a reunion could be brewing, but it’s worth pointing out that Buchanan isn’t on contract yet. However, The Bold and the Beautiful is leaving the door open for additional popups. Buchanan could get more involved if fans respond well to the material.
We also have to wonder why Eric is ordering this evaluation. Sheila will undoubtedly try to worm her way back into Eric’s heart now that his marriage is imploding. Will he begin to fall for her? Will Eric want confirmation that Sheila has actually changed before he takes any kind of leap?
Regardless, it’ll be great to see James and Sheila on screen together. You can catch Ian Buchanan on B&B starting August 16. We’ll give you updates as other news comes in.
